Chapter 4 

 "I can't believe you passed Lance to give Darryl what you bought" Lilith was amused as that was the first time she'll see her friend being that bold. As Jade had always been in love with Lance, she had never dared to do anything that would make him angry at her since she wanted him to like her. 

"Darling Lilith, did you see his face when I walked past him" Jade bursted to laughter as though she was having the best time of her life which further amused Lilith. 

 

They were now walking back to their class since lunch period was over. The next class would soon start, which was by the students most hated Teacher, The History teacher, so they couldn't afford to be late as he was very good with giving students Detention. They both entered their class and went to have their sits. 

Shortly, a tall middle-aged man entered. His rimmed glass casually sat on his nose as he skimmed through the class as if calculating if the students were completed.

"Oh, we have a new student" he was bemused, his eyes on Diniel. It wasn't easy getting into this school in the middle of the session but Diniel had been lucky. She stood up to Introduce herself which Jade actually found unnecessary. The man wouldn't even remember who she was the next day, well, unless she was a troublemaker as herself. And since the Diniel she knew wasn't like that, all these doesn't matter.

"I'm Diniel Brown, a Transfer student" She even gave a bow. Mr Whales simply nodded before telling her to have her sit. And the class began after that....

After Jade had left, Lance's team mate had been asking him about the scene of him being ignored by his Fiancee and he had came up with a silly excuse just to make them keep shut. He still couldn't get over the fact that the girl who had always been over him was behaving strangely today...was she trying a new way to get his attention?  After making up a reason to fill his egoistic mind, he felt slightly better.

He had finished washing up after the game and entered the locker room to change into his locker room. His steps halted when he saw Darryl there and he had to recall what had transpired in the Basketball court earlier.

Darryl noticed him but didn't turn to acknowledge him, afterall they weren't on talking terms.

"What relationship do you and my fiancee have?" Lance asked in an annoyed tone. He knew Darryl was purposely ignoring him.  Darryl paused what he was doing and faced the fuming Lance.

"Which fiancee are you talking about? Pardon me but as you always have many girls around you, it's hard for me to recognize the one you are talking about" Darryl's response almost made Lance burst. 

What the heck! There was no one in the school who doesn't know Jade was his fiancee' 

Lance moved closer to Darryl and thankfully, their height was just on par, so no one would have to look up or down. He had always hated Darryl because the latter had been good with everything he wasn't but because Darryl was anti social, he didn't have girls swarm around him like he does.

"You better stay away from Jade while I'm being nice. She's my fiancee and no matter what I'm doing now, we would still get married in the future" Lance threatened. Darryl's eyes flickered briefly with pain but it was quickly gone just as it came. He clenched his fists in anger but didn't allow Lance to see how affected he was with the notion of Jade being married to him. 

"You surely are so full of yourself Lance. No matter what you are doing now? You mean you are free to fûck around with girls and she isn't allowed to even have a male friend because you both will be married in the future?" There was amusement in Darryl's grey eyes as he stared at Lance mockingly. He placed both of his hands on Lance shoulder and brushed it softly.

"You must be forgetting something. There's still another four years before you both will get married, so don't be smug. If you piss me off, I might not even let it be up to a year before breaking your engagement for you. Don't forget who I am before threatening me" After brushing Lance's shoulder, he picked up his training bag and walked out of the locker room like nothing happened.

Lance gritted his teeth in absolute anger, he couldn't believe the table was turned over him. He of everyone else knew Darryl's identity which no one else does and certainly, he isn't someone to mess with.

Darryl met Leo in the hallway to their class. The latter was pacing to and fro the hallway which made Darryl wonder what had happened.

"Were you waiting for me?" Darryl asked and it seemed his voice stopped Leo as he immediately turned to him.

"Hope you both didn't fight? I mean you and Lance" Leo asked worriedly. He had seen the look Lance gave Darryl after Jade had left the Court earlier and he didn't think it was a good thing. Infact he had forgotten about the incident and had followed their other friends to have fun, forgetting he was supposed to be with Darryl. Darryl was temperamental, expecially when the matter concern Jade.

Darryl tilted his head while looking at his friend with sheer confusion. "Why would we fight?" At his question, Leo calmed but couldn't resist asking.

"Lance didn't threaten you or something, did he?" If Darryl said No, he wasn't going to believe it because of how egoistic Lance was. The guy wouldn't want something and wouldn't want others to have it either.

 "He did but it's nothing but child's play, so, I'm not bothered" Darryl began walking away while Leo immediately followed. They were quiet for a while until Leo broke the silence....

"Are you really just going to watch as Lance treats the girl you like that way? I know you are backing off because she likes Lance regardless but you should really consider what she would face in the future" Darryl stopped before facing his friend who had taken up the job of an advisor. 

"I'm not giving up, it's just that I'm waiting for the time she would no longer fully rely on him any longer. Maybe at a time she'll have a change of heart" He was already in deep thoughts as he was talking to Leo. He remembered the way she smiled at him earlier. That had never happened before as she never even noticed him no matter what he had done. She only had her eyes on Lance till now and he wondered what had changed. Whatever made her change was for the better.

"Come back to Earth Darryl" Leo shook him vigorously as he had been calling the latter earlier but he had been so engrossed in his thoughts. Darryl glared at Leo who was disturbing him and walked away. 

 "Tsk, Tsk, a boy in love is a fool In love" Leo murmured before running after his friend.
