He handed me a wooden mug of warm tea made from real forest herbs.
"Thanks," I said, taking a sip. The warm liquid settled comfortably in my stomach.
"You look peaceful," Leo said, studying my face with a warm smile. "It suits you."
"I feel peaceful," I admitted, looking out over the green valley. "For seventeen years, my brain felt like a house with all the windows thrown open during a hurricane. I was always terrified of what the next second would bring."
"And now?" Leo asked softly.
"Now, the wind has stopped," I said. "I still have dreams sometimes, but they're different now. They aren't warnings of doom anymore."
