"I want all my bridesmaids to look stunning in their own way. Each of you will have a unique neckline but the same color. Black. Funeral black."
Her words made me look up sharply. There was something strange about the way she'd said that, almost as if it had slipped out from somewhere deep. She noticed my reaction and laughed loudly.
"For some, marriage is like death, right? The death of your single life."
"Uh... I guess..."
She smiled even wider, bringing the tablet closer to show me several examples of black gowns. Each one, however, seemed a little... a little too daring. The necklines were either plunging, or the designs themselves far too bold.
