Let Me Sleep, or I'll Never Wake
Dad suddenly rose to his feet and pulled open the bottom-most drawer in my desk, where a pair of compasses with dry blood stains and an old, worn diary were hidden in the furthermost corner.
He flipped open the diary filled with crooked writing, thanks to my sudden sleep attacks.
There were no complaints or resentment recorded down in the diary at all. Instead, there were only lines upon lines of self-reflection and shocking self-blame.
"I'm sorry, Dad. I didn't manage to stay awake and fell asleep during math class today again."
"I'm just going to stab myself twice this time so I can do well in the exam tomorrow. I can't let Dad be ashamed of me."
