Yes, I just stirred in my sleep. That makes it believable.

“Would you sleep up here on my bed if I asked?” He took off his shirt then put the pillow behind his head and pulled the blanket over him. “Maybe.” I assumed he was going to say yes so, I felt a little rejected. “Dragon shifters have strong senses of smells. If I slept with you, I’d have to take a long shower to get your scent off after a whole night of being in the same bed. Why are you asking me what my answer would be when you know you’re not going to ask me to?”

“We’ve had a long night and it’s a lot to take in. Tres, get some sleep. You’ll take the next driving shift. No stops this time other than gas and food.” The soft music was turned up, acting like serotonin to his body, and he could no longer fight the losing battle against sleep. His breathing relaxed and his mind went into standby, granting James complete and utter serenity as he swiftly succumbed to nothingness.

In fact, wasn’t he picking his foot up now to avoid tripping over the edge of the pavement? Without even glancing down, he’d known it was there.

I fought the shiver that coursed through my body, and I began to twirl my fingers nervously. “First, I want to explain to you the basic concepts of shifting.
