His icy blue eyes were soft while looking at them. They all immediately stopped talking and gave him a once over. “Hi there.” He nodded looking at them. Clara and Poppi were looking at him dreamily when he smiled. Oh, man! His smile was contagious. “Yes?” Jackson frowned a little. “I am Tom, just got transferred and today is my first day. Tommy’s loading the pumpkins into the back of the SUV when Maggie’s mobile rings. “It’s Jon,” she says, brows coming together. Jonathan is at work today, and his call isn’t expected. “Hey, Jon. What’s up?” She waits a motherent, listening to her brother. “Oh no. Yeah, yeah, we’ll be right there.” Another pause. “Tommy’s with me, I’ll let him know.” Tommy, having heard his name, looks up. Once he sees the worry on Maggie’s face, he comes over. “What’s wrong?”

Probably both. Tommy checked his watch. 1:58 AM. Tommy stepped forward and spoke—loud and clear, his voice carrying in the still night air: "We are enemies of Siegfried Zerok." He declared. Nothing happened. Connor shifted nervously. "Maybe they're not—" The gate swung open. One moment it was closed, the next revealing a path through the overgrown gardens toward the estate beyond. "Well," Tommy said, trying to keep his voice steady despite the sudden spike of adrenaline. "That's inviting."

As he glanced at the couch, his eyes softened. Although the blinds were drawn, a few rays of sunlight filtered through the gaps, casting a gentle glow on Nyla's face.
