Tower Of Babylon Novels & Stories

After a full day of marching through the monotonous and miserable landscape of the Bone Desert, they finally saw it. From behind the last mountain peak, the Obsidian Tower soared to the sky. It was not a building, but a curse frozen in stone. A colossal pillar of jet-black rock whose surface gleamed like wet glass, so tall its pointed peak pierced the purple clouds above. The tower seemed to absorb all light and hope from its surroundings, radiating an oppressive aura thick with pure evil. The aura it emitted alone was enough to make an ordinary cultivator fall to their knees from the spiritual pressure.

The Obsidian Tower did not merely stand; it loomed, a jagged needle of pressurized carbon and reinforced glass that seemed to bleed into the low-hanging smog of the city. To the millions living in the slums below, it was a monument to the "New Stability." To Alexander Vance, it was a giant, vertical server housing the parasite that was wearing his father's face.

The structure rising from the Pacific was not made of stone, steel, or even the living-alloy of Neo-Tokyo. It was a vertical sea of "Static-Data," a skyscraper of crimson light that seemed to bleed directly into the ionosphere. As the Vanes approached in a salvaged hover-skiff, the air itself began to taste like ozone and old code. This was the Tower of Babel, the physical manifestation of the Red Algorithm.

“The first letter read: ‘I, Prince Habeb, the Prince of Suramy demand from you, Banabella, whose name I discovered in my dreams. I beg you in the name of your own god, grant me my wish, and avoid being uprooted from the face of the earth.” The second parchment read: “Because you have hidden Banabella in an unidentifiable place, with the intent of deceiving me, I’ll tread upon your bodies and make your kingdom bare like ordinary earth. Till I see Banabella, the people of Muzagah shall not be privileged to take in air into their nostrils before the sun sets tomorrow. Prince Habeb speaks!’

After all, with his Starmark full and able to leave anytime, why would Hendrix fear getting injured? "You probably already know about the Tower of Babel and the Tower of Divinity, right? Let's find a place where you can tell me about them so I don't have to go check them out myself." "Of course." Apart from the minimalist sleeping quarters, the place resembled a small city that was complete with tall buildings. Of course, the most eye-catching structures were the two towers—one red, one blue. They soared so high into the clouds that their tops weren't visible. "The red one is the Tower of Divinity for soul enhancement. The blue one is the Tower of Babel for improving your martial arts."

Kaine fell last, not behind them, but through them, gold light forcing corrupted machines to recognize change whether they wanted to or not. The main obedience tower rose from the center of a dead city. It had been built over old streets, old homes, old bones, and Mae felt every stolen layer of it as they landed. Thousands of people stood around its base in perfect rows, eyes empty, bodies trembling beneath the weight of commands they could not resist. At the top of the tower, High Chancellor Darius Kelm waited behind a wall of glass and light. He looked less like a ruler than a frightened man dressed in authority.

Ashlyn I’d seen it before, but it never got less impressive regardless of how many times I entered Panther City. The streets were tared, and the building painted in dark grey, silky blacks and bullet proof reinforced windows. Some were made out of brick, and concrete whilst others made from metal walls. The tower however always stood tall. A structure carved straight in the middle of the entire city. It's biggest building. They called it the main tower. It was made of black glass and steel, parts of it sharp as blades made especially to keep the dragons off their walls.

Meanwhile, The ATG Tower in Chicago was a spear of obsidian and cold LED light, piercing a sky that had never truly recovered its natural color. It didn’t pulse with the rhythmic, organic heat of the St. Louis Arch; it hummed with the high-pitched, predatory whine of a machine that was hungry.

I stood at the edge of it all, hugging my jacket tighter around me, heart racing. "We’re going to the city," Brielle whispered next to me, her voice half terrified, half thrilled. "Downtown. Pack Tower." Pack Tower….I overheard Eric one time talking about Dad’s company and vacation homes there, but I was not privileged to go while I was in Bloodmon. I heard it was a skyscraper in the heart of the city, towering higher than anything else, fortified by magic and power. A place built for wolves who wanted to rule not just forests, but empires.

I didn't know that it was possible to make skyscrapers that looked like sailboats. The car slowly worked it's way toward the base of the massive tower of the Burj Khalifa. At 2,722 feet and 162 floors: it dominated the skyline. My neck ached as I craned it backward to see the top, but we were too close and the tower was too tall. The car dropped us off, and Owen and I headed inside the main lobby.
