Bonnie squealed, leaned in, kissed his lips, and ran out of the room, overwhelmed with happiness at the thought of seeing her mother.
Maybe Wave didn’t miss Fatima the same way, he was still too young, easily distracted, but Bonnie was older. Throughout the trip, she had tried to be okay. She loved spending time with her father, but her mother’s absence affected her more than anything, especially during those rushed video calls where she had to fake happiness and watch her mother hide her pain.
