The Fall of a Guardian
He patted my shoulder one last time, giving me a look filled with warning and kindness, before he stood up straight and prepared to leave.
"So… as much as possible, Eros… do not fall in love with a human being. It never ends well for us."
Those were his last words to me before he spread his wings and flew away, leaving me alone again with my thoughts and my duty.
I remained there in silence for a long time, watching the lights in Ynnah’s window from afar, thinking deeply about his warning, about the fallen angel, and about the strange feelings growing inside my own heart every time I looked at her face. I told myself again and again that I was just her protector, her guardian, nothing more.
