After work, Trista drove out to the Shadowfangs alone. Since she didn't have an appointment, she parked at the gates, trying to come up with a halfway decent excuse to get inside. Just then, a beat-up pickup truck—the kind used by scrap metal haulers—pulled up slowly. Two middle-aged guys hopped out and walked straight toward her car. Trista checked the time. It wasn't even 7:00 PM yet. Since she saw trucks like this in her neighborhood all the time, she didn't think much of it at first.
