I muttered and walked past her to step out, but she grabbed my leg and wouldn't let me go.
"No, please wait." She pleaded, still holding my leg tight like a tenant begging her landlord not to turn her out for not paying her rent.
"Bishop caught me going through his drawers," Lexi blurted, her voice cracked slightly as she spoke. "I thought he was going to kill me so I lied." She added, tears were now swimming down her eyes.
I laughed softly—a faint laugh that barely came from my heart, "I don't know what you're talking about Lexi. You lied about what?" I asked, confused and lost.
