It was everything I'd ever dreamed of in a proposal, perfect in every way, except it wasn't meant for me. A reporter stuck a mic in Joe's face, and he answered with composed ease, "Yeah, Nora and I've only known each other two months, but I'm certain that she's my fated mate. We're having the mate-bonding ceremony in a week!" His voice was just as steady and sure as it was when he told me he loved me at 18. It felt like someone stabbed me clean through the heart with a silver dagger. I couldn't stop the tears streaming down my face.

This man looks familiar, though, and as he shakes my hand, I remember I’ve seen him with Nolan before. He was also the man Andy was trying to talk to earlier that turned Andy down. I’m not sure why he didn’t want to talk to Andy, but it had made my ex-boyfriend angry enough to storm off. “Ms. Davis, that was quite a good save earlier,” he says, grinning and shaking my hand. “I’m James Reed. I was impressed by your display earlier with the Princess’s mess and would like you to come to my company Monday morning for an interview.”

I was turned down by Damian. Xander's strong, unwavering gaze is still fixed on me. I have trouble speaking, and my mouth gets dry. "I... I stammer, my heart thumping in my ears, "I don't understand." "How is this possible? I've already... I don't complete my statement. This stranger—this strong, imposing man—is claiming me as his mate while the hurt of Damian's rejection is still very much present. With a warning in his voice, the alpha takes a step forward. "Xander, a second mate relationship is uncommon. We don't operate like this.

I give a modest smile. I study him. "So Matt are you a doctor by chance?" I probe. "Yes, a neurosurgeon." he says flatly. Hmm. Long history with Cassie, clearly protective of her, comfortable around her too. Definitely a problem, a very polite problem. She grabs her coat. "Ignore him." I placed a hand over my chest. "Ouch! bella I'm hurt." I feign annoyance. "No one believes that." she smiles lightly. Matt laughed.

Alpha Edward's POV The door opened, and Matthew stepped in, which made my brow furrow because I was surprised to see him arriving so early. “How are you, Alpha Edward?” Matthew asked as he stepped closer to me. “Are you okay?” he asked again, and I grunted. “I feel so terrible, Matthew. I feel worthless,” I spat with anger, my eyes settled outside the window. I hated my helplessness and wished I could just get off this fucking chair.

" First of, tell me about yourself, your family and what you do for a living " Matt dropped his wine glass on the counter as he let out a deep sigh. " I am a graduate of Civil Engineering but I dropped my certificate to work on a farm. Weird right......something about being with nature gives me peace " " Oh.....what about your parents?' She noticed the sudden shift in Matt as she mentioned his parents. He seemed to be uncomfortable. " Dad's dead, all I have is my mom and my little sister. " he said as he proceeded to gulp down his remaining wine.

He was screaming before I could say hello, "Have you seen this?" "Seen what?" "Turn on the TV, or better yet, go online; it's Matt; his whole life is imploding. What the hell is going on?" He hung up the phone, leaving me stressed and confused. Matt? What the hell could be going on with Matt? Sure, he did business with us, but out of all of us, he kept his public image squeaky clean. I turned on the TV and went online at the same time to see what all the fuss was about and almost wished I didn't.

, said Matt with a shrug. I felt her colour a bit from embarrassment. I smiled at her compassionately. Matt can always cut you where it hurts the most. She was rumored to be sleeping with one of our directors. It was Dave I believe. She was desparate. She wasn't a talented model but there wasn't any two questions about her acting capabilities. Everyone has their strengths.

I told her. She let me go. Thankfully, the restroom was empty, so I turned on the faucet and began splashing water on my face. Matt came in behind me. He was the closest to me after Terry. Though, based on their dumb hierarchy, his dad ranked third among the top billionaire families, a successful and popular mechanical engineer who could fix or build almost anything related to electronics. “Are you okay, dude?” Matt asked, patting my back. Somehow, his question triggered the bile that had been forming in my throat.

Bella asked and I looked at the TV with a frown when I saw him on the TV. This cant be good, he is on air a few minutes after threatening Emma. “Emma Hansen and her husband Conan Hansen, they are refusing to allow me to see my daughter. I have been trying to find a way to see her but they wouldn’t allow it,” Matt said with fake tears. What game is he playing now?
