“Good morning, Mr. Castello.” “Good morning, Amira. Put the tray down. Bella’s eating with me today. Jack's Pov~ I stood in the guest bathroom staring at myself in the mirror, trying to figure out what the hell had just happened to me. I wasn’t even five hours into this house, and my head was a mess. Bella Aunt Bella wasn’t the woman I remembered from childhood. She wasn’t the scattered, soft-voiced mom figure who baked too many cookies at family gatherings and hugged everyone too long. She was… different now. Older, yes. But stronger. Sharper. More… feminine. Everywhere. In her posture, in her eyes, in the way she carried herself like she’d lived several lives since I last saw her.

Bella's eyes darted around the room as if she was looking for a way out. “It’s okay you can talk to me,” she said smiling, and continued “How old are you, Bella?” Dr. Anna asked. “I'm 17,” Bella said and Dr. Anna's heart sank as she heard Bella's reply. Based on the information she had reviewed, she knew that Bella was not, in fact, 17 years old. She knew that Bella was struggling with some sort of delusion, and she wanted to help her. "I know this is difficult," she said, "but I need you to understand something. You are not 17. You're older than that. I know that may be hard to believe, but it's the truth."

“Drink it. After what they pulled tonight, you deserve to forget every single one of them.” Bella lifted the glass, the rim clinking against her teeth. She took a long pull, liquid fire sliding down her throat. “Old,” she muttered, barely audible. “They talk to me like I’m expired goods or something… I’m twenty-three, Angie. Twenty-three.” Angela’s smile faded. She leaned in, voice dropping low so Stephanie wouldn’t hear. “You keep pushing away the best ones, Bella… all these wealthy, handsome guys, and you sit there like you’re untouchable. You really deserve every mess coming your way.”

The first shift of werewolves usually happens at the age of 10 to 15.
