I recognize that plant he just mentioned. It is called belladonna, and it is a type of nightshade plant that is poisonous to werewolves and humans. Belladonna is a slow poison, and Val still has a chance to survive it. But if they had used wolfsbane on her, her chances so survival would have been next to none. Who are these people, and what are they up to?

In front of her sat an ancient, terracotta pot containing a lush, dark green plant with dull purple, bell-shaped flowers and glossy black berries that looked like polished obsidian. "Do you know what this is, Mr. Rossi?" Isabella asked. Her voice was a soft, velvety purr that seemed to blend into the gentle patter of condensation dripping from the glass ceiling. "Belladonna," Dante replied flatly, his predatory eyes scanning the rows of hanging ferns and dense foliage behind her, checking for blind spots. "Deadly nightshade. Atropa belladonna, if you prefer the Latin. It’s an odd choice for a hobby, Miss Valeriano."

Angelica. I knelt beside it and plucked several stems, ensuring I got a few good flowers. Perfect. I placed the stems in my basket, covering them with the chamomile. The gown she was wearing looked exactly like the ones Lorna wore in the picture he stared at last night. Did she just happen to have this? But then, it wasn't a limited edition. Anyone could have it. "You're scaring me. You haven't said anything." Vespera called out. "Now I'm worried that this isn't good enough for the event."

She stepped aside; her eyes held pity for me. I gave her a nod and stepped out of her room. Later that evening, I returned to the library with purpose. I hurriedly scanned the shelves for any book with botanical knowledge, and luckily, I found one. It had a faded green cover titled 'Botanica Obscura: The paralytics'. I pulled it out, my trembling wet fingers swiped through the pages until I stopped on a drawing of a delicate flower with jagged petals and veined leaves: Atropa belladonna.

But when she was not wearing her tribal wear, her beautiful face seemed to look somewhat malevolent. Tap! Tap! Tap! As the woman appeared, countless poisonous vermin crawled out from under the roofs, from the grass, and the ponds. Scorpions, centipedes, venomous snakes… All venomous creatures.
