My mind was completely, wonderfully quiet. Leo sat down beside me, taking my hand in his. His fingers were warm and strong. "Where are we going now?" I asked softly, opening my eyes to look at him. Leo looked out the window toward the vast, green expanse of the outer forests stretching far beyond the old city walls—a place no citizen of Oakhaven had been allowed to see for fifty years. "Home," Leo said softly. "To build something new."

Relieved I go and place the coffee order at the wood bar/counter and leave a false name, Alexa for the barista. Sitting back down, there is a noise of crashing out the front, as I take a look, I can see that a large Hummer has driven into the back of my Range. Odeon takes a double take to make sure I am safe inside the café then heads to the vehicle. No doubt to make sure everything is okay with the driver and find out what the hell is going on. His hand is at his firearm.

The woman said, smiling, “In that case, I will give you the price of one for two and two free bottles of drink as my way of cheering you on.” “Really?” I asked, touched by her benevolence. “Yes.” She replied, nodding. “Thank you so much, ma'am.” Leah and I said in unison. “You are welcome.” She replied, before retrieving two packs of takeouts. Moments later, we walked out of the cafeteria, with our orders in hand. “Where do you wanna sit?” Leah asked. “Under the oak tree.” I motioned to the imposing tree that stood a few centimetres away from us.

Wait for me here," He went inside to buy a coffee, and I stayed here under the tree. I took my phone to take a photo of the place. I seldom take selfies on my phone. “Because this seemed like the right place.” James stepped out from behind the tree. Charlotte blinked. He wasn’t alone. A small wooden picnic table had been set beneath the branches. Three cups of coffee. Three chocolate pastries. A tiny vase holding wildflowers. Nothing extravagant. Nothing expensive. Just… Them.
