Undercover Novels & Stories

I knew it was perfect timing and so I seized the moment and rushed over to her, then took the gun from her. I seized her neck, having the gun firmly pointing to her temples. “I think I am the one who needs an explanation here. You are actually undercover for the FBI and you led me on all the while. And that was why you hid even your real name Mia, from me? You thought I wouldn't find out, huh? Do you know that this can be your last day on earth, you dare to surrender me with a gun? You know no woman has ever tried that but you think that you had the guts to, right?”

NOAH I waited for Astrid in front of her dorm room because I wanted to speak to her. I have made up my mind to tell her who she was to me because I couldn’t hold on anymore. I was tired of having to push her away when I knew that in the future I’d have to bring her closer again. I never would have thought that my mission as an undercover would lead me to meeting my mate. After my conversation with Adriana where she threatened me that she would expose all that she knew about me, I walked away, daring her to do what she could do.

I asked. Mercer let out a short, humorless laugh. "Nobody survives getting close." The room went quiet as I turned the pages. "And you actually believe I can get close enough to change that?" Mercer folded his hands on his desk, his gaze unwavering. "I believe you're the only one who can see the moves before they're made. We want you to go undercover." My stomach tightened. Undercover assignments were dangerous for any officer, but for me, they were a different kind of risk. One wrong moment drowned in a criminal's psyche could destroy me.

His focus was sharp, eyes scanning the financial reports on his tablet, while beyond the floor-to-ceiling windows, a meticulously manicured estate stretched out into the distance. "Boss, are you really going through with this? Staying at the branch office and pretending to be a low-level clerk?" Kevin, his private manager, asked with a skeptical frown. "Of course. Undercover work is exhilarating! Besides, I haven't caught the 'rat' who’s been stealing from that place yet," Dominic replied coldly, his eyes narrowing. "Is this purely the work of corrupt subordinates, or is it a scheme by... him?" "You mean your half-brother, Mr. Axel?"

It's a hopeless cause to try to educate the majority of them on how challenging it is to maintain a cover story. My most valued possession at the time was the flash drive on which were stored the images that I had taken during my undercover investigation. It contained the evidence that may expose the secrets that Russo had been keeping and possibly bring down his empire. Knowing that my life depended on it, I had taken all of the necessary precautions to ensure that it remained secure.

I’m almost suspecting that I’m being smuggled out of town until I see we are headed for a huge gate of what looks like a factory. “What the…” I mumble under my breath as I suspect that my cover has been blown somehow and I am being smuggled to a secret place where all the truth would be tortured out of me. The tracker on my phone is still active, and hopefully, everyone at the precinct would know if anything happens to me. “Here we are, Miss Wolfe…” the guy in the passenger’s seat in front turned with a friendly smile. “I’m sure it’s not what you expected.”

It felt human. Then the line went dead. I lowered the phone, hands trembling. The quiet was no longer peaceful. It pressed down like weight. Like consequence. And then the TV screen shifted. BREAKING NEWS: Covert Organization “IRENIC” Allegedly Linked to Underground Government Missions I didn’t move. I just stared. The anchor’s voice cut through the quiet with urgency. “…newly surfaced documents suggest the existence of an ultra-classified operation, code-named Irenic, allegedly backed by former senior government officials. The alleged mission scope: dismantling corrupt conglomerates, laundering networks, and transnational crime through unsanctioned, covert intervention…”

"Don't worry, Tut, how come your face is so tense, please introduce this to my husband." "Oh yes, Tuti, Mas." Tuti reached out to Mas Feri. "Feri," said Feri, welcoming Tuti's hand. Doesn't look suspicious. They act like they just met. "Who is this Tuti, Sar?" asked Mas Feri while taking a cup of coffee that was already available. "Don't pretend you don't know, Mas," I replied, smiling sarcastically. "Ow!" The cup immediately slipped from Feri's hand, until hot coffee spilled on his pants. Next.

I reply. “Like an undercover cop?” Rick asks. “Exactly,” I say. “Like an undercover cop, I may have to put myself in compromising situations to get the information I need. Some criminals are very good at hiding. I’m better than them. I always find them, but to get them to remove some of their barriers, there are times I may have to do more to get close to them,” I say softly. I can feel Rick tense up as he starts to realize what this may mean.

She turned her gaze to her uncle and gave her a slight nod to confirm her suspicions. "This is a highly classified mission, agents. The Government wanted to investigate this case for a long time. But due to the big persons involved. From high-ranking officials, both in the army and the police force, to prominent politicians that we have today. They decided to hire a specialized group that has entirely no connection with these people —that's us. And with that, both you will go on an undercover mission." A picture of a well-known university flashed onto the LED screen. "As a professor?" the guy asked.
