Dark eyes sharp, mouth a hard slash of red, she looked between us like she was recalibrating a weapon.
Then, gracefully, she stepped back into the darkness and was gone.
The Game’s voice crackled again, louder this time, echoing up from every floor and down from every ceiling.
[FINAL PHASE OF ROUND ONE] it announced, almost giddy.
[THE LORD’S JUDGMENT BEGINS. SURVIVE UNTIL DAWN.]
Somewhere deep in the castle, something old and hungry woke fully.
