There was a high-pitched scream from the bushes that Talen had disappeared into, the sound eerily like a human’s, and the volume of it sending the parrots in the trees to flight, squawking in protest.
“Here we are,” Talen announced carrying a struggling rabbit in each hand. He sank gracefully down into the grass at her side and offered her one. “Be careful. They’re wily.”
