She grabbed a cup of water from her car and poured it over my canister, trying to block the spray. Then, without warning, she snatched up a military shovel and swung it viciously in our direction. I could not let go. If I did, Benjamin would fall to his death. With him strapped to my back, I had no time to dodge. The shovel came down hard, slamming into his arm with a sickening crack. His scream tore through the pit as blood splattered across the sand. Then, he fell unconscious. Celeste spat, "You filthy piece of trash! Still trying to turn Vincent against me? Let's see how many more hits you can take."

I hated how defensive I sounded. “Don’t forget why you are there, Francesca,” he warned. “Don’t forget what he did to your parents to our family. This is not a game, he is not a man you get comfortable with. He is a snake, and he will bite you the second you stop watching him.” The mention of my parents was like a punch to the gut. It brought all the hate and anger rushing back. The image of their bodies, the smell of blood. That was why I was here, revenge.

Her body was completely numb, due to Xavier's cruelty. Xavier left Bianca who could only whimper. Annoyed that Bianca hadn't given him any information, he turned to his friends. "Noah, take care of that woman." After saying that, Xavier nonchalantly left. His emotions were completely out of control in front of Bianca. Even though Xavier is a gentle person with women, it is proven that he is always kind to his mother, sister, and also his lover. But not with Bianca, Xavier just felt all this needed to be done to avenge James' death.

After the wedding, I knew Zac would help me bring down James' company. I knew I had too much to do but that was less than the pain I felt during the hours they hid me. I want to hurt them over and over. I want them to kneel at my feet while crying and apologizing. I'm not going to stop until I get what I want. I will torture them and abandon them. I will exact my vengeance until the day I die. I was so angry that I just burst into tears. I retouched my make-up again and they reminded me not to cry too much because my make-up was a waste. They thought so I was crying out of excitement. But what they didn’t know was the anger and pain so I cried.

While my face is still hot because of the dark intensity of his gaze that travels through my naked chest, nausea crawls through me again as I recall the images of how he easily inflicted pain on people without remorse and how he locked me up in that dark cage that smelled of death and torture. The mere thought of death and destruction from the story I heard in such gruesome detail fills my chest with agony for a heartbreaking moment. His quest for vengeance left trails of death, and he hurt many innocent people and ruined a lot of families. I don’t excuse it, but I understand it. I don’t realize he grabs the spray until he murmurs, “Close your eyes.” I obey. Despite the volatility of my situ
