"Finn, good work. What's the situation inside?" I straightened, stood at attention, and saluted him crisply. "Sir! The fire has been extinguished and the severely injured have been transported to the hospital."

Finally, they arrived at their floor and the doors opened. They walked the short corridor to their respective doors. Vespera had reached her door but then she stopped and turned. Ezekiel had his key card out but noticing that the figure wasn't moving, he looked at her. "Is everything alright?" were his first words to her for the evening. Vespera smiled and walked back to meet him. "Yes, everything is alright. There is an industry event happening on Friday." She informed him. "The Vine Entertainment showcase. I have two seats."

I asked and he shook his head. "I can't heal others. Zephyrine was the only one gifted by the gods to heal others. I only can heal myself." He explained. "Okay, and one more thing..." I started. I only concluded this myself, but... "It seems that there is a vengeance spirit in this village. It resides in this place." I said as Zale slightly heal my wound without me saying anything. “What?! A vengeance spirit? But why?” Neven asked. I shrugged, just because I don’t know either.

“Shut the system down.” Sloane sighed softly. “You still don’t understand.” She gestured to the screens around them. “Phoenix doesn’t belong to me.” Lucien frowned. “What do you mean?” Sloane’s eyes gleamed. “It belongs to the future.” She pressed a button on the console. Suddenly every screen flashed red. Global missile systems. Military satellites. Weapons access. Marcus’s face went pale. “Oh hell.” Lucien stepped forward. “What did you do?” Sloane’s smile widened.

He fixed his gaze on the man standing at the doorway. Matteo Ferraro. Enforcer of the Valenti Syndicate. Dominant, commanding, and armed with authority and clout that made grown men flinch. He was currently scoffing internally at a situation he found deeply ratchet: being ordered-around and dismissed by an eighteen-year-old with a candy stick. The whole arrangement icked-out something irritated in him. He was lowkey-pissed and pressed in the most cooked, sus way imaginable. A genuine power-move from a teenager, sitting wrong in every level of the hierarchy he had spent years earning his place within.

The bullet cut through his head and lodged itself onto the wall behind him which was splattered with blood. The woman sat on her haunches and seemed to be staring at the dead speedster though nobody could see her face. She grabbed at the goggles the speedster was wearing and slid them off of, revealing wide open lifeless eyes and a small line of red dripping down towards the bridge of his nose. She stood and left the way she had come, together with the goggles. "For Anna..."
