she reveals, watching my reaction closely. "What?!?" I exclaim, nearly losing control of the car. "Wolves and vampires can't be mates. That's impossible." " You'd be surprised. Many wolves have vampire mates, but it's not widely known. Normally if a wolf never finds his mate especially if he or she travels looking it is likely they have a vampire mate. Many do not know this because wolves do not like the idea of mixing with vampires. So many of them will reject their mate if they do find that it is a vampire and then they take a chosen mate. Since the pull for vampires isn't as strong many vampires do not mind and will accept the rejection, but they will always keep a close eye on their mate

"You know, mate. The person you're supposed to be with, your soulmate." I didn't know why but I felt a pang of guilt. I knew I was supposed to be with Lenora, my vampire bride, but I couldn't bring myself to accept it. I loved Eden with all my heart, and I couldn't deny the pull I felt towards Eden. It was a complicated situation, and I didn't know how to explain it to Eden. "Well, in the werewolf world, we believe in soulmates too. It's a bond that forms between two werewolves, and it's supposed to be for life," I said, hoping to distract Eden from the topic.

And I didn’t know if what I heard was right or not. When his words sunk in, my eyes went wide at his confession. Did he just say I’m his mate?! But how could this be possible? I mean, I know that vampires have mates. Replica had told me about that. But why didn't I realize that he’s my mate? Was he lying to me? Was this because of my human side? Or was it another one of his tricks? I was so deep in thoughts that I forgot he could read my mind.

“Well, I know you read enough of the ancient book in French to know how to save Everly, but did you read enough to find out how to kill her?” “No,” Jack said quickly. “Why would I need to do that? I don’t want to kill her.” “But Maura does,” Everly reminded him. Slate was already hitting redial on the phone. “Alyson? Yeah, it’s Slate. Doesn’t matter why I’m the one calling. Is that French book that Everly used to turn into a werewolf still in the house? Just go look!” He was clearly annoyed that Jack’s sister wasn’t moving fast enough.

Leo ordered for us, which sent a feeling of relief through me since I felt pretty exhausted from this morning. “So, where do I begin?” Alistar said, clasping his hands together as we sat at the table waiting for our food. He began to tell me that Werewolves have mates, but Vampires have Predestined. Although both species can live extremely long lives, Vampire souls are made for one soul only. And his other half lived inside of me. Pandora was the other half of his soul, but he didn’t know that until he met me. Instead of smell, Vampires use pure instinct. Leo stated that my wolf was the other half of his soul too, which he knew as soon as he met me as well because of my scent.

"Where did you hear that? You should never say that out loud or anyhow just like that, do you hear me? Master abhors any talk about werewolves and being curious about the world of the supernatural." When she was sure that I was not going to say anything again, she leaned closer and her voice became very low. "A mate to the werewolves is like what a husband or wife means to the humans. Or more like a soul mate. I have heard so many theories that it is like a lifelong bond that appears between two people and it is so strong and pure, the majority of them do not survive if their partner dies. It goes beyond anything ordinary. I don't know the details but..."

Now our hair is fire red, and our eyes are no longer the same; they say that from that day, everything started and that destiny began to write our way to Him, our way to the death of one of us.
