Tonight she would finally seal the bond with the man she loved. The hallway felt longer than usual as she walked, her steps light, hopeful. She stopped in front of the door, reached for the handle, and pushed it open. And her world shattered. Her arms fell uselessly to her sides. The smile died on her lips as shock stole the air from her lungs. “Oh, Rowan… you are going to kill me,” a breathless moan slipped from the woman’s mouth. Elena. Her best friend. Hale stepped out in her pajamas. “What’s going on? Aren’t you both asleep?” she pressed as a smirk curled on Rowan's lips. “How can we be asleep when Aiden is busy frolicking with Kai? Mum, you won’t believe I met them kissing,” Rowan announced as Aiden tightened his jaw but remained silent. “They can do that,” Mrs. Hale muttered, wiping her sleepy eyes. “Mom, you didn’t hear me properly. I said I caught them kissing, It happened right in front of me,” Rowan explained.

I close my eyes and feel it all, the butterfly feelings in my lower abdomen, the feeling of little ants creeping down my spine, the heady and intoxicating feelings of walking on a cloud, all of it. The door opens wide behind me, and if not for Romans's arms around my waist, I would have fallen flat on the floor. I entangle myself from Roman at the clearing of throat coming from Aella. "Good night, princess." Roman says, and with one last peck on the cheek, he turns and walks away. We both watch his retreating back for a moment before Asley shuts the door with a bang and goes on to scream my ear out. I diligently ignore her and collapse on my bed out of tiredness.

The room was engulfed with the heavy scent of blood mixed with the scent of rose, a grand four-poster bed only befitting for a queen, dominated the space. Suddenly Rowan broke into a laugh as he bent his head to capture my lips again, “Why don't we do this again?” He asked, his head already kissing a trail that lady straight to my hole. “Don't you ever get tired?” I said, gently pushing him off or at least trying to push him off. “Oh c'mon, Queen Ava, I know your secrets, I know you are thirsty for more of this...” His words trailed off, as he began lapping on my juices, taking me on the trip to euphoria.

The intoxicating taste of him sent a shiver straight through me. Rowan groaned low in his chest, the sound vibrating against my lips as his hand slid to my waist, gripping firmly. “Elias,” he breathed against my mouth, like saying my name was a confession. I didn’t answer with words. I kissed him back harder, my control slipping as my wolf surged forward, needy and reckless. His scent wrapped around me, thick and possessive, drowning out every rational thought Kael’s warning had planted in my head. Rowan’s forehead rested against mine for half a second, his breathing uneven. “I’ve been thinking about this all day,” he murmured. “About you.”

CHAPTER 35 – Heart of the Storm The cavern shook with the roar of fire, molten walls reflecting the chaotic dance of blue and gold flames. A shaky breath left my lips when he bit down on the fabric, slowly dragging it down my legs before reaching back up to unmute the phone. “You seem distracted,” Rowan cleared his throat. “Are you just up having coffee?” “I actually haven’t gotten out of bed yet,” my eyes were still on Azure’s.
