Novel & Cerita When Does Rory Drop Out Of Yale

Henry was leaning against the wall of the hallway, covered in moss, a witness to the true identity of the king they were waiting to sit on the throne. My best friend straightened his posture, glancing behind me. Wary. “Where is Rory?” “She went to her parent’s place. Why?” there was an underlying alarm in his expression that didn’t sit well with me. He ran his fingers through his gray hair. “Fuck! Send Ali to get Rory.” “What’s the matter?” I asked firmly. “Look inside.” He tilted his head to the side, huffing. I did as I was told. Living a life without Rory is probably the only thing that would scare the shit out of me, but Tauri cloaked in Mrs. Loren Grayson’s skin topped the list.

I know who it’s from before I even open it. I’m in the kitchen, barefoot, hair still wet from the shower, making coffee while Killian wrestles Rory’s little brother into a shirt that says BIG BROTHER: EXPERT AT ANNOYING SISTERS. James (three years old, red curls, Killian’s exact smirk) is laughing so hard he can’t stand up. Rory (ten going on thirty) is at the table writing her fifth-grade graduation speech on the back of an old oncology report because she says “it feels right.” I slit the envelope with a butter knife.

“That’s impossible. Her admission letter came around the same time as Mikayla’s.” Cory grabbed a chunk of his hair in annoyance. “How would I know? Don’t tell me she’s dropping out of school altogether.” Staring at the deserted campus gate, Ben couldn’t shake off an inexplicable feeling of dread.
