"You have no idea what you started. People are coming for us now." The meeting went wrong fast. Headlights appeared at both ends of the garage. Strange men got out of cars. Elias grabbed Kane's arm. "We have to go. Now." Kane pulled him toward an exit. "Run. Do not stop." They took off through the garage and out into the city streets. Footsteps pounded behind them. The chase was on. Elias ran beside him breathing hard. "Who are these people?" Kane kept pace. "Council enforcers or someone working with them. Marcus talked too much. The leak went to the wrong ears."

They're done for. Whether they run or not, they can't escape, team 2 are in the east wing which was the only place they could run out from. I could hear some silent patter of feet and shoes get farther and farther, so I realize that they were running away from me to Daniel instead. “Kill anyone that tries to fight back but capture their leader. I need him alive.” I speak through the device which cracks as Daniel responds “Got it boss.” He stated on the other end of the line before it goes dead.

“Let's continue when we're out of here.” He pushed open a set of double doors, only to meet Azaiah and about twenty soldiers standing there. Looks like they were coming for us too. Declan and I glanced at each other. “Run!” We turned on our heels and bolted back the way we came. It was a hassle jumping over dead bodies but it was either that or the angry men behind us. "Any bright ideas?" I shouted over the sound of stomping boots chasing us. "Keep running until I think of one!" Declan barked back.

“They got to it.” “Out,” I said immediately, already pushing the door open. “We’re not waiting here to be found.” We moved again. Each step felt heavier, the weight in my arms a constant reminder of what we were running from and what we couldn’t afford to lose. We hadn’t gone far, maybe a few hundred meters when the explosion ripped through the air. A deafening blast that shook the ground beneath our feet. I turned instinctively, my eyes locking onto the direction we had just come from.

“Smart.” There was a pause. Not tense, just... quiet. Thoughtful. Then he leaned back in his chair and looked at me like he was seeing someone new. “You said you’re from the Wolfsbane Pack.” “Yes.” “And your Alpha?” “My... former Alpha,” I corrected.
