“You won’t be needing this ever again.” He revealed his hands, extending them toward me. My translucent, white-and-yellow citrine wand was cradled in his palms. That wand had chosen me my first day at AKaelenmy Obscura. It had glowed, then floated down from the wall of wands to where I stood below. I’d been so happy. Citrine was a stone of courage, mental focus, and a powerful regenerator. I owed my life to that wand. Forrest’s fingers curled. He gripped my wand tight, his features contorted in effort until a horrible cracking rent the air. My wand shattered.

Eryndor's Shadowing dagger seemed to dance in the moonlight, its dark blade slicing through the air with a haunting screee-ksss. Each strike landed with a thud-thwack-thoom, sending tremors through the troop's warriors. The troop's hearts raced as the violent zing-ting-zap of clashing daggers filled the field. The savages of warriors, fueled by fury and loyalty, clashed in a frenzy of arms and teeth. The ground grew slick with blood, the earthy smell mingling with the metallic tang of steel. Jack Wolf stood firm, his Moon-whisper spear shining with a soft, ethereal light. He parried Eryndor's strikes with a precision born of desperation, his movements a blur of speed and strength.

“A very powerful witch. I’m sure you’ll meet her and her mate Ezra soon enough. Jamison brought out a scabbard and Ard’al pulled a beautifully made broad sword. The wooden handle was etched and the blade was engraved with symbols he didn’t understand. “The sword is spelled and blessed”, Ard’al said. Rainn took the blade from his hand and couldn’t believe how well balanced it was. “You start training using that tomorrow”, Ard’al called as he headed out the door.

He had evolved into a dragon, after all. Walter waved his hand when Chase agreed to it, and a long stick appeared in it. The stick was about five feet long and was as thick as a small arm. It was thicker than the usual stick and looked heavy. It was gilded with cloud patterns and had black and red ribbons around it on both ends. Chase thought it looked familiar but could not put his finger on it. Willow was surprised. Walter had never used any weapons before. Where did he get the stick from?

Sungul grinned proudly, “To know that you’ll soon have a familiar in your grasp.” I’ve seen other witches wandering around campus with theirs. Random floating objects or a slew of different animals saunter around with their witches. Some were as small as a pixie while others stretched high towards the ceiling, towering over the lot of us. There have been moments when I’ve thought what mine could possibly be. “Do you have one?”

His wife and son follow behind him, wearing equally terrified expressions and holding their hands above their heads. The witches, Haden, and I stand flanking the front door within the house, ready to go out at a moment's notice. Haden and I are poised to transform, and Master Tsertinand holds a rather wicked-looking sword, with his magical disc hooked to his belt, buzzing orange with magic. Ophelia has all the plants in the garden at her command. Kiran and Hunter, both protectors, have an arsenal of protective spells and their own aspects. Leita folds a crossbow, made by Master Tsertinand, a lethal thing that is pure black in color, and the arrowheads capable of piercing through iron.

She took the girl's hand before walking towards the nearby pond. "It's frozen, " Scarlett said as they reached the little pond. "Oh, don't worry about that, " Niya shook her head. Her hand reached down to the small bag that was on her hips. She took out a small pen type of thing and in a tap, it transformed into a beautiful wand that was double the size of it. The wand was made of wood, black colored, and polished. "Ziloi, " She whispered and pointed her wand at the pond with a little swing.

Effie said downing the glass in one full swing. “And your mother left you a magic shield and a staff?” “The First King’s shield and Sturgis’s wand, the wand of commons” “I thought Sturgis had a staff?” Kane sipped his drink. “Ah, yes and no. He won the staff in a duel. He used a wand made of goblin wrought silver before his famous defeat of the which Shophia” “Why would you need a goblin made wand?” Effie shook her head side to side, “It’s a collection of fairy tales. No one has ever seen it in living memory. Besides the chest said to be locked by the great Wendelin Ambrosius.”

I sigh, “, but I have no idea how to use this thing.” He chuckles, “That’s why I’m going to teach you. Strap it on, we’ll start with some basics.” I pull on the straps that are attached to the sheath, trying to buckle it around me. Why are there so many buckles? Where do they go? I try putting the longest one around my waist, similar to Corvu’s, but I can’t get the sword to stay by my side. It keeps slipping behind me. Frustrated, I grunt.

Boro and Mika stood in the sand circle as the two finalists. The animosity between the two was so thick in the air it was almost palpable. Boro stood in the ready form, Crane In The Water, standing perfectly balanced on one leg, his sword held out before him. Mika stood in a form that Boro didn't recognize. Boro prided himself on knowing all the forms of classical, and modern, sword art, the fact he didn't recognize this one was puzzling.
