Xavier's Pov "Alpha Max is a werewolf. Then how did he have a human daughter?" I questioned. Since she-wolf had vanished a century ago, I automatically assumed the daughter was human. It was a mystery to me how a werewolf could have a human child, that too a girl. At that question, Mom paled. "Luna was adopted" She answered me without meeting my eyes. "How is Luke related to Alpha Max?" I fired another question at her.

"I wont get to spend that money once I get caught for snitching. They'll kill me!" "Who will?" She falls silent. Time for plan B. "Get her to talk," I order. She visibly panics when Logan moves, grabbing the sides of her chair and turning her to face him. She is startled, but once their eyes connect, she can't seem to look away. "Don't take your eyes off mine," he says calmly. She nods slowly, and it seems like she has fallen into a trance. "Daydream has a leader. What is her name?" Logan asks. Annie is still silent. It seems like her entire body has shut down, except for her face twitching into a frown as she tries to keep her mouth shut.

"Our Luna is a very good mate who has helped many wolves. I hope Luna and Alpha can always be together happily." My daughter's tears fell silently, remembering when her father once took her and me to run in the moonlight, where he had turned into his massive wolf form to let her and me ride on his back. Her small shoulders trembled as the memories washed over her. "I know," she whispered through her tears. "I will thank Dad well... Alpha Kieran." My spirit felt more painful now than my body had under silver torture. Watching my daughter's dull, gray eyes, I remembered the past.

“You’re not here for revenge. You kidnapped Andrea to force Rose into your bed.” Logan stiffened. I saw it then—the flicker of something darker in his eyes. “So what?” His voice turned mocking. “She’s James Dawson’s daughter. She deserves it. I’m not the only one who thinks so. Ask the other wolves in the Blue Lagoon pack—they all want her dead!” He had lost his mind. “It was her father who committed those crimes, not her,” I said sharply. “James is already dead. That should be enough for you. If you want to punish her, make her a slave. But she doesn’t deserve to die.”

Logan, a beta from the prestigious Darkfur pack, was ready to give up his rank, renouncing his responsibility to his pack to stand by my side. Their pack is not very rigorous. They don't tell each other that they must find a fated mate to be powerful. They also allow their members to live their lives as they see fit. They can either serve the pack or live as humans. The Moon Land is serene. Because of their beliefs, they appear to be pure-blooded humans. He doesn't want to be strict and believes that everyone should be free to pursue their interests in life. Francine is a Luna Princess, however, she has no rank in the Green River Pack.

At least I have a little bit of guidance on what to wear, which also hints at how I should act. The way Logan tends to act with the pack members I’ve met so far seems to be as a classic stern authority figure. He’s much more relaxed and playful with me and with the guys than he’s been with anyone else we’ve run into. I’m not sure I could pull that off even if I was a shifter as well. I might have to take a softer approach, which is what I’ve been doing instinctively, anyway. I caught a look from Logan last night that implied his approval of how I’ve been doing so far. Alpha and Luna are starting to seem like oddly parental roles. I guess that means he’ll be good with our kids…
