I'm not so sure myself so I'm asking you to write a review (no pressure, I'd just like some feedback.) This is Volume 2, A Dark, Desolate World, where the story continues on where the first volume stopped. Our main character Isuzu goes to South Britain, the British colony in Terra Australis to speak with the person who made her go there in the first place, the General.

The universe waited for so long, no stars moved, no worlds turned. No winds whispered through the branches of the Last Tree, even time itself seemed unwilling to take another step until Nova made her choice. Before her stood the Unwritten, countless children with empty silver eyes. Behind them stretched impossible worlds that had never been born, civilizations that had never drawn a single breath, and futures that had been abandoned before they could exist. I stood before it for a moment with my hands at my sides, looking at the dark, worn cover, the spine that had no title, the pages whose edges had a faint luminescence that might have been age or might have been something else entirely. That is the only way I can describe it, not darkness, not pain, not a simple sensation, but the total and violent ending of the world I had been standing in one moment before and my simultaneous arrival in every other world that had ever been or could have been. They could not afford to be complacent. Danger could come from any direction, and there was no guarantee they would make it out of this alive. Alex, ever the optimist despite the circumstances, tried to distract himself from the ache in his muscles by observing the world around him. The landscape was unlike anything he had ever seen, even in all the books he had read. The trees were ancient, their trunks gnarled and twisted as though they had witnessed centuries pass.
