Wuthering Heights Book Summary Novels & Stories

“One out of three.” Fuck. I let my eyes skim over the first page and go through the basic introduction to the content of the book. My love for anything on paper kicks in soon enough and I let myself get drawn into the pages. The book provides information starting from the beginning of a certain year and goes on detailing the events that took place in that year and the next ten before beginning the next chapter. I read of powerless Kings and magical queens. Political upheavals and the line of Ashryn the Great.

Safe. Anthony wandered toward the fiction section while Lila ran her fingers along a row of spines. She paused at a worn copy of Wuthering Heights, flipping it open to a passage she’d underlined in her own copy at home. Something about passion and destruction and longing that refused to fade. “You’d make a good Catherine,” Anthony said behind her, his voice thoughtful. “But less tragic. I’d never leave you on a moor.” She turned, laughing. “That’s a weirdly romantic thing to say.”

He sat on the couch across from me, but closer than usual. “Here,” he said, holding it out. “Try this one. It’s a rare first edition of Wuthering Heights. Not many people have read the original printing.” I took the book carefully, my fingers brushing his. That familiar spark shot through me again. “Thank you. I’ve only read the modern version.” He leaned back on the couch, watching me. “The original hits different. Heathcliff’s obsession… the way he destroys everything because he can’t have what he wants. It’s brutal.”

"I need something to occupy my mind, not sedate it, little bird. Something dramatic, passionate, maybe a classic tragedy." We paused in front of a section devoted to foreign literature. "How about Wuthering Heights?" I suggested, pulling the dense volume from the shelf. "All-consuming passion, deep obsession, and tragic consequences. A perfect distraction." He took the book from my hand as his fingers brushed mine. A contact that lasted a mere second but felt like an electric jolt. I immediately hid my hand behind me. He weighed the book in his hand, not looking at the title but at me.

I'd done what any sensible person would've; I went on live TV and apologized, what more do they want? I stood up and ambled to my bookshelf, I picked a random book and trudged outside. The day was nice and pleasant, the kind that made you want to be outside and at the same time too lazy to go. I parked my butt on the chair at the backyard and looked down at the book in my hands. "Aww men!" I groaned. The book on my hands was none other than Wuthering Heights. I groaned again. Oh well! Might as well see what happens to Heathcliff.

I walked angrily down the hallway on the way to my own bedroom and laid down. Groaning, I grabbed one of my English Lit books, 'Wuthering Heights,' and tried to get some reading done. That was a mistake… Cathy and Heathcliff were at least 20 years apart in age, at least that was what the analytical footnotes in my academic copy told me. Well, I'd succeeded in distracting myself from Bethany, but now Ellis crept back into my mind.

"As Sebastian turned around, his heart drumming in his chest, he couldn't help but steal a longing glance over his shoulder. He could only imagine the transformation occurring behind him, the raw power of Eva's wolf emerging from the depths of her being. The forest fell into a hushed reverence, holding its breath in anticipation of the unleashed creature. Eva closed her eyes, feeling the familiar tingling sensation envelop her body. She surrendered herself to the primal instincts that lay dormant within. A surge of energy coursed through her veins, the sensation akin to a thousand tiny fires dancing beneath her skin. With each inhale, she breathed in the essence of the wild, the scent of fre
