Bryan looked at me, irritated.
—Your friend is very cheeky, you know?
—Of course I know. I’ve known him since we were kids, I replied, laughing.
—My condolences, he said, half-serious.
I was enjoying myself until Bryan received a call. His expression changed, and he stepped away to answer, gesturing and speaking loudly. Meanwhile, Dylan returned with two shots.
