It was supposed to be over.
We had them. Maurice and Luna. Caught. Exposed in front of everyone during my grandfather’s birthday.
The satisfaction of watching their masks fall away, of Luna's scream and Maurice’s silence as the cuffs clicked around their wrists—that moment was seared into my memory.
