The Predator stands alone, without a pack, territory, or any ties, and has the power to devastate several werewolf clans simultaneously. Even the Alphas tremble at the mention of this ruthless, heartless entity. A Predator is burdened with a curse—forever destined to be without a mate. Seconds before her pack is destroyed, Lilian learns that she is mated to the last living Predator, Daemon Pierre—the only man capable of igniting a storm of emotions within her. Lilian now faces a decisive choice: either embrace a mating with Daemon and sacrifice the protection of her pack, leaving herself vulnerable to constant attacks from his enemies, or reject him and remain within the confines of pack safety, while hoping that the moon goddess will give her a second-chance mate. The power to choose her fate lies in her hands.

A not-so-simple task Lilian. I wasn't always like this. This bony and frail looking girl with hollow eyes. These eyes were vibrant once before, even my dark hair was shiny once before, now it looked scattered and dry like an overused mop. I sighed to myself as I gave up looking at my miserable frame in the mirror. This was my life now, I had made peace with it. There was no big bad Alpha that would swoop in to save me and destroy the lives of the people that were destroying mine everyday. “Are you done gawking at your ugly self, Lorraine?” The Luna's disgusted and mocking tone filled my ears. I looked up and saw the disdain her eyes had as they stared down at my bony figure. “I'm sorry, Luna. I just wanted to tell you that I was done cleaning Cailan’s room.” I bowed my head while I spoke. “Oh.” She stopped short at the stairs, looking all put together in the gold-coloured satin simple gown that hugged her delicate figure. “Find something else and do. It's not like there isn't any other thing in this house to keep you busy. Don't be a lazy fool and go find some work to do!” She commanded with acid dripping from her tone, and thundered down the stairs. I nodded slowly. I sure looked really tired and weary, and my tummy grumbled due to lack of food. I hadn't eaten since the previous night as a punishment for not washing the Beta’s clothes. My knees could give way at any moment and I could slump at any time, but I walked on. “Lillian, there you are.” I heard a haughty voice behind me. Beta Aidan. “Yes, Beta.” I bowed my head to show submission, if not, I would be used and abused and nobody would care. “Go to the lobby and scrub the floor, it needs to be sparkling and shining before I return. You can take Hailey with you.” He said. I bowed my head once again and rushed the best I could to pick up the supplies and go to my stationed workplace. Hailey came with me, and together on our hands and knees, we scrubbed quietly. “Seal all the pack borders! We are under attack!” My Alpha's deep voice resonated throughout the pack link, and I could feel all the hair in my body stand. For the first time in a while, I was struck with fear of the unknown. I was doing all these lowly work because of only one goal in mind, and a pack attack would ruin it all. There was a hint of panic in the Alpha's voice, something that had never happened before. “Something is really wrong, I have a terrible feeling about this.” My friend, Hailey, said with eyes filled with fear. If Hailey said something was wrong, something was really wrong. She was really perceptive. “Alpha!” A sharp voice cut through my wandering thoughts as a bloodied pack warrior stumbled in and fell at the door. “Half of our warriors are down.” He tried to muster out, coughing up a lot of blood in the process. Whatever happened out there had really weakened the spirits of the Commander of the Pack Warriors. Alpha Blackthorn stood up from where he sat, not quite far from the floor we were scrubbing, his eyes were blazing emerald green in anger. “Who dares attack my pack? How many are they in number? How many are the rogues out there that you can't defeat?” His voice thundered at the warrior. Tears spilled out of the corner of the warrior’s eyes. Bitter tears, I noted. I felt my heart drop to my stomach, dreading the next words that would come out from his mouth. “There are no rogues,” his voice cracked. “It is just one wolf. One demon! One monster!” He shivered in fear as more tears spilled out of his eyes. “Lilian!” I heard my Alpha's dark and grainy voice call out to me and my legs began to move on its own as it scurried forward towards where the Alpha stood. I knelt, head buried to the ground, to listen to his orders as I always did, if not, his heavy legs would come crashing down my back. “Since all my warriors are busy, I will task you with one important mission. I even promise to let your family go and all their debts forgiven.” He said coldly, and I knew my life was going to be on the line for this request. But thinking of my parents, my brothers and sisters coming back home to me, I knew I would do everything in my power to make it happen, no matter how weary or hungry I was. This was my only chance to redeem my family, and I wasn't going to let this slip away. “Y-y-yes Alpha. I will do anything.” I struggled to breathe out. “I want you to protect my only son and child, Cailan, with all your life. If anything as little as a strand of hair misses from his head, I would slaughter your family before your very eyes and burn them till they turn to ashes,” his voice was really low and malevolent as he spoke. I was internally gasping for breath at that gory mental picture. I swore on my life that it would never get to that, and I would protect Cailan even if it meant dying. “I promise that Cailan will be safe after this is all over. I swear on it with my life.” I was trembling as those words came out of my mouth. I could feel the tears begin to well up in my eyes. I could do this! I had to be able to do this! Only then would I be able to see their faces once more. “Good.” The Alpha breathed out before disappearing in a second. Immediately he was gone, I scampered to my feet and rushed to the corner of the room where Cailan napped peacefully. We had to hide! Careful not to wake him, I scooped him into my arms and shouted towards Hailey, “The big oak! We need to hide there.” I cuddled the boy in my arms and fled out of the lobby, skipping over the fallen warrior in his pool of blood. “Not that way!” I heard the warrior shout with his last breath as soon as I dashed towards the direction of the big oak, and dread filled my stomach once again. It was already too late to turn back…Chapter 89.Lies and Loyalties.Kelly.My dreams were having its normal flow when something rippled and its course changed. I realized a little too late that my mother had forced her way into my dream once more. She was getting even stronger in resisting the wall I had raised against her constant intrusion. The only way I could get out of this situation was to will myself awake.“Don't bother about waking up, this is urgent.” Her voice was sharp and there was a tinge of panic in them which caught my attention.“What do you want, mother?” I spat out in anger. “I'm tired of all your mind games. Are you tired of playing with Oliver's —”“Look,” Her voice softened, and her figure began to form in the back of my mind. “I know there is a lot you don't understand, and I know that I haven't taken time to explain anything to you, but this time…" she paused for a few seconds, “it's different this time. Your friend, Lilian, is in danger and I need your help to protect her.”Now, that caught my f
Chapter 88.The Tests.Lilian.“You have to do something!” I clutched on to Wilder's shirt, my hands squeezing tightly on it. “You have to help me! I'm not ready yet. I don't know what to do. I... Wilder, please, I beg you.”The tears had begun to stream down my eyes. This wasn't happening. I couldn't lose anyone again. I couldn't lose Daemon or even my child, regardless of what was being said. My child would be different. He or she wouldn't harm anyone. I knew it deep down in my gut. This couldn't be happening!“There's nothing I can do, Lilian.” There was a conflicted expression on his face. “Honestly, there is nothing much to do. The doctors would know once the tests are carried out. I can't… Lilian. You have to tell Daemon.”“No!” I shouted almost immediately, my body quivered in tears. My hands were shaking as it held on to Wilder. “I know you can think of something, Wilder. I just found out about this yesterday, and now I'm already getting threatened about my child? Please, I do
Chapter 87For Elimination.Lilian.I woke up to a ruckus the next morning. I lay in bed, listening and in deep thoughts when the voices got even louder. I stood up groggily from bed and peered through the little open slit from my window, and my heart jumped to my throat. What were they doing here?“Is anyone home?” One out of all the nine Alphas asked. I could feel the thick tension amongst all the Alphas.Had something happened? Had they been able to find the patrons, or … Has Daemon's time run out?The front door opened and a lean muscled figure stepped out of the door with irritation spread over his face.“It's really early…" Daemon did not hide the annoyance in his voice, and the dangerous aura he was emitting made most of the Alphas shrink backwards. The only person who had the courage to be in front of Daemon stood his ground without flinching, matching Daemon's hard gaze.“We wouldn't be here this early if it wasn't relevant, Predator!” His voice was hard as he spoke to Daemo
Chapter 86Plan In Motion.Oliver.I edged curiously towards the lake house, where Wilder and Lilian were whispering under their breaths. I tried to make out what they were saying, but I wasn't able to even read their lips. The sun was slowly setting over the pack and the lake shimmered in sheer beauty. The beauty it held contrasted to the expression on Lilian's face, so much that it made my heart thump in excitement. After a while, Wilder's face also fell and his expression turned grim. His eyes had gotten dim and darker, and he glanced towards Lilian one last time and nodded before pulling himself off the ground with a speed that even rivaled all other vampires. His strides were fast, as if he had a purpose — the sense of urgency in his body language.“Hey, Wilder! Wait up!” I rushed after him in a hurry, picking up my long blue gown that flowed over my ankles. He paused and turned towards me, waiting for me to reach him.“Is there a problem?” A frown formed on his face as soon as I
Chapter 85Still The Same.“How did you…?” Her eyes glistened with unshed tears. “You can hear the—”“Heartbeat, yes.” Wilder affirmed. “A little faint, but… Does Daemon know?”There was a conflicted expression on her face as she turned her face back to the lake and shook her head.“No, he doesn't know.” She answered. “I just found out.”“How?”“My mother told me.”“Oh. Is that where you brought your father to last night?”“Yeah. Ayana had said that if she reunited with my father, she would gain her memories. So, when he was found, the first thing on my mind was to reunite him with my mother.”“She has regained her memories, I guess…"“Yes, she has.”“That means Daemon isn't aware yet.”“He isn't.”“Are you going to tell him?”There was a long silence between both of them, and after a while, she shook her head. She wasn't going to tell him. It would only intensify his search for the patrons, it would only be a repetition of the cycle.“No. He doesn't have to know.”“But, he will find
Chapter 84Two Hearts.“Where have you been, Lilian? Where is your father?” Daemon sat on the porch of the house in the early hours of the morning staring hard at Lilian, who was coming back home— absentmindedly. She looked disturbed as she trudged towards the house. Daemon frowned as he saw her demeanor and carefully lifted himself off the floor.“Lilian…" He reached out to her and pulled her into him.He felt what she felt— Desolation. What happened? Why was she so detached from her immediate surroundings?“Are you okay?” He shook her slightly, jolting her back to reality.“Daemon, hey.” Her face was pale when she looked at him, “You're awake.”His eyes darkened instantly.“Where did you go? You made everyone worry…" This time, Wilder came into view, looking haggard and sleep-deprived.“I…" Words failed her.Lilian was getting little realizations one after the other, so much so that she felt like the weight of the world was on her shoulder. She was going to die too… Just like other
