The Alpha’s Prisoner

Liana woke to silk sheets and the scent of something wild.

For a moment, she thought she was dead. Then she felt the dull ache in her head, the bruises on her wrists, and the oppressive stillness of the air.

She sat up with a jolt.

The bed was massive—king-sized, carved from black wood, wrapped in navy linens that smelled faintly of pine and… him. Beyond the bed, thick velvet curtains cloaked the windows, and walls of stone loomed around her like a castle.

No doors.

Just one—solid, steel-reinforced, like something built for a high-security cell.

“What the hell…”

She swung her legs off the bed and tried to stand. Her knees buckled, but she caught herself on a nearby table. Her hands were shaking. Her skin still bore faint, muddy smears. And she was still in her diner uniform.

Still human.

Still alive.

But for how long?

Before she could process anything else, the steel door clicked open. Her breath hitched as a tall shadow stepped inside.

Kael Damaris.

Now clothed in a dark button-down and slacks, he looked even more dangerous in human form. Too composed. Too controlled. Like a lion pretending to be tame. His silver eyes pinned her to the bed like a threat wrapped in beauty.

“You’re awake,” he said.

“No thanks to you.”

His brow twitched. “You're surprisingly calm for someone who witnessed a wolf massacre, got knocked unconscious, and woke up in a stranger’s estate.”

She crossed her arms. “Is that what this is? An estate? Or a prison?”

His mouth curled into a smirk. “Depends on how cooperative you are.”

Liana bit back the rising panic. “You kidnapped me.”

“I saved your life.”

“By attacking me?”

He strode toward her slowly, like a man who knew he didn’t have to run to catch his prey.

“You were in rogue territory,” he said. “One of them saw you. If I hadn’t brought you here, they’d have ripped your throat out.”

“Oh, so I should be grateful?”

“No,” he said, stopping in front of her. “You should be quiet. And smart.”

She met his gaze. Unflinching. “What are you going to do to me?”

His eyes darkened. “That depends.”

“On what?”

He reached out, not touching her—but close enough that she could feel the heat of his palm.

“On why the second I smelled you… every part of me stopped shifting.”

Liana blinked. “What?”

Kael leaned in. His breath grazed her neck. Her pulse betrayed her—thudding, hot, fast.

“I’ve been cursed, girl. My wolf is barely controllable. I kill without warning. But the second I touched you…”

He inhaled again, low and slow.

“…everything calmed.”

Liana swallowed hard. “So what? I’m some kind of tranquilizer?”

“No,” he said. “You’re something else. And until I know what, you’re not going anywhere.”

“Like hell I’m not—!”

Before she could finish, he growled—actually growled—and in a blur, he slammed his hand against the stone wall behind her.

“Don’t test me,” he snapped.

She flinched—but didn’t back down. “You think that scares me? I’ve survived worse than you.”

He stared at her. Studied her.

And then, with maddening softness, he said, “No. You haven’t.”

She opened her mouth to retort—but a knock at the steel door interrupted them.

Kael didn’t take his eyes off her. “Eat. Rest. Don’t try to run. There are wolves outside this mansion who’d love the taste of a soft little human.”

He turned to leave, pausing at the door.

“And Liana?”

She stiffened.

He smiled, slow and lethal. “If you were meant to die that night, the moon wouldn’t have sent you to me.”

Then he was gone.

And for the first time since she was a child, Liana felt truly afraid—not of dying, but of what she might become if she stayed.

CHAPTER 32: The Blood Moon and the BondThe moon bled.It shouldn’t have.It wasn’t an eclipse. It wasn’t natural. It was a warning.Kael stood at the balcony of the Alpha Hall, bare-chested, still marked with Liana’s touch, but now… something else coursed beneath his skin. His hands gripped the railing, knuckles white. Every breath he drew felt like it scraped against something larger pressing in.Behind him, Liana stirred from the tangled bedsheets. She had dressed quietly, aware of the tension crawling up Kael’s spine like lightning on a dry plain.“You feel it too,” she said.He turned. His eyes—normally forest-dark—burned faintly gold now. Not the gold of a normal Alpha. Something older. Wilder.“I feel everything,” he said hoarsely.Liana stepped closer, noting the pulse of energy radiating from him. “What happened?”“I don’t know.” His voice cracked slightly. “Ever since the bond—ever since last night—something’s changed. I can feel your power… like it’s bleeding into me.”Lian

CHAPTER 31: Fire Beneath the MoonThe forest had gone still. But Kael hadn’t.Not since the moment he found Liana lying in the grass, her power still crackling beneath her skin like live wires. Now, back in his quarters, with the door barred and the moon high, he didn’t speak. He devoured.Liana’s back hit the wall before she could draw breath. Kael’s mouth was already on her neck, tongue tracing the pulse that still raced from the battle. His hands were everywhere—rough, shaking, needy.“You could’ve died,” he growled against her skin.“I didn’t,” she whispered, threading her fingers into his hair. His lips moved down, across her collarbone, his teeth grazing the mating mark. It glowed silver beneath his touch—more volatile now. Hungrier.Liana gasped as he lifted her, pressing her against the cold stone wall like she weighed nothing.“You walked into death’s mouth without telling me.”“I had to—”Kael silenced her with his mouth. This kiss wasn’t gentle. It was claiming. Desperate.

THE BRIDE AND THE BEASTThe Well didn’t welcome them.It devoured. As Liana stepped fully into the void, her skin screamed. Her lungs constricted, not from lack of air—but from presence. Like something ancient coiled around her ribcage and watched.Astrid turned sharply, fury flashing in her silver-bright eyes. “You shouldn’t be here.”“You promised I wouldn’t be alone,” Liana said, voice low but firm. “Neither will you.”The void rippled around them, shuddering at the weight of twin blood. And then it fractured.Reality blinked.Suddenly, they stood in a garden. The Crescent stronghold in full bloom—flowers glowing faintly in the twilight, fountains singing, wolves lounging in peace. But something was wrong.Too perfect. Too quiet.Astrid’s breath caught. “This isn’t real.”“I know,” Liana whispered. But part of her wanted it to be.Because across the courtyard, she saw him.Kael.Whole. Unscarred. Smiling. He stood beside a cradle—rocking it gently with a look of peace Liana had nev

HO WAITSThe forest had never felt so silent.Even with the fires extinguished, with the blood washed from the earth, something lingered. A pressure. A whisper. As if the very soil knew what had been unleashed.Astrid hadn’t spoken since the stranger vanished. Not on the way back to the Crescent stronghold. Not when Maya hugged her, uncertain but grateful. Not even when Kael ordered extra patrols to seal the perimeter in case of another attack. She just sat on the edge of the training cliffs, high above the valley, staring into the mist as if the mountains would offer her answers.Liana didn’t push. But she watched.Closely.From the balcony of Kael’s quarters, she could see her sister’s silhouette in the morning light—still, rigid, yet somehow fragile.“She hasn’t moved,” Liana murmured.Kael stood behind her, arms crossed. “She’s unraveling. I can feel it.”“She’s stronger than that.”“She’s dangerous,” Kael corrected. “Whatever that man awakened… it’s growing. I’ve seen this kind o

OLVES THAT REMAINAsh blanketed the battlefield like snow.Smoke curled through the trees, mingling with the scent of blood and scorched earth. The forest groaned under the weight of what had transpired—bodies strewn in broken lines, the fallen claimed by silence. But the war was over. And the Crescent Pack had won.Liana stood on the ridge overlooking the clearing, Kael at her side. His hand was warm on her lower back, steadying her as her body continued to heal. Astrid stood a few feet away, her expression unreadable, her silver eyes reflecting the morning sun that finally broke through the storm. It was the first sunrise they’d seen in three days.Below, wolves worked in silence—gathering the injured, honoring the dead. The air hummed with subdued grief and weary triumph.Maya approached, blood staining her armor, her braid loose. "The last of the rogues scattered east. Elias is hunting down the stragglers."Kael nodded. "Any casualties?"Maya looked at Liana, then Astrid. "Too ma

THE TWIN FLAMESThe battlefield ignited.Claws clashed with steel, magic sizzled against fur and flesh, and above it all—the howl of war split the sky.Liana moved like lightning.Kael was at her side, tearing through the rogues that surged from the trees, his wolf form a living tempest of gold and fury. Elias and Maya flanked them, holding the Crescent line as the two sisters stood at the heart of the chaos.Astrid's eyes glowed black, dark energy crackling from her fingertips. Her power pulsed through the clearing, freezing the very air around them. But Liana didn’t flinch. She stepped forward, fire licking up her arms, her hair lifting with divine wind."This doesn’t have to end in blood," she shouted over the carnage. "We can still fix this. Together."Astrid laughed, bitter and bright. "Fix what? The world that left us to burn? The gods that chained our bloodline?"Her palm opened, and a blast of shadow hurtled forward.Liana countered, raising her hand. Silver light exploded out
