The jeering taunts and scathing laughter of my former packmates washed over me in crashing waves of vitriol as I was hauled before them in chains like a prized trophy.
"Look at the stained omega whore!" one sneered, earning a chorus of derisive hoots.
"Carrying Enemy' pups in her tainted womb!" another called out. "I bet she was on her back begging for the Blackmoon's knot!"
I shrank back from the fusillade of hateful slurs, tears of shame and heartbreak streaking my cheeks.
How could they be so merciless, so eagerly cruel to one of their own?
"Father, I beg you to listen!" My voice cracked like shattering glass. "Please, this is all a mistake...I didn't willingly mate with Gabriel!"
Somewhere in the jeering throng, I caught a glimpse of Damien's familiar frame - and there slung around his arm in a possessive embrace was Seraphina, regal features twisted in a victorious sneer of contempt. My heart shuddered in my chest, what little remained of it atomizing into cosmic dust.
