Four

I wake up in a cold sweat on a hospital bed,the hand that almost got ripped to shreds bandaged . 

"It's good to see that you're awake",a voice says." You must be Eden, I'm glad to see you're awake you lost a lot of blood,how do you feel?",he warmly asks.

" Tired and my arm hurts like a m*therf**ker ",I whisper.

" It's normal,she got her claws in really deep but somehow managed to miss your artery not causing you to bleed to death,you took the dose of wolfsbane pretty well,it usually knocks humans out for three to four days but you were only out for one",he says." Look at my bad manners I'm Doctor Finlay but you can just call me Mark", he says taking my IV out. I don't know what it is about him , maybe it's the warmth in his eyes and all his bright smile but he reminded me so much of Tyrone.

He prescribed me a small dose of wolfsbane to help with the pain only to take at night and told me how to take care of the wound and also some antibiotics for the wound inside my cheek from the slap Ms Astrid gave me . I'll have to come here everyday to get my bandages changed.

I didn't know that there was a doctor in this place the Alpha must be loaded, never in my life did I ever think that wolves were real,what type of twilight sh*t is this?.

The infirmary was in a separate building from the mansion so Mark took the liberty to push me back on a wheelchair, we had to pass through the paved stone road in between a small little forest.

"Who taught you how to read, I saw you mouth the words from the posters in the ward"

"What makes you think I never learnt how to read? "

" I know everything about my patients and I know you stopped going to school in the fourth grade",he says,this is always a touchy subject for me but I respond anyways.

"Our neighbor Ms Dutch an old lady that was a teacher in the 1950s taught me I'd take her dog for walks and in return she'd teach me and my brother how to read ,she had large boxes filled with books that she'd let me and Tyrone read whenever we wanted", that's the only reason I got the job in the library.

We are silent all the way but it's not the awkward type of silence but a comfortable one.Jill said this place is a large estate with different wolves living here in the mansion and in houses on other parts of the land.

Jill is the only one at the dormitories that I find because it is meal time for the humans.

"Why aren't you having breakfast?",I ask as Mark helps me to the bed. I thank him as he leaves.

"How could I ,I was so worried",she says opening her trunk taking out something wrapped IN tin foil,she opens the package revealing many goodies, scones and a few sausages .

"Jill what did you do? You know we're not allowed to bring food to the dormitories",she ignores me and just stuffs my mouth with a scone,we eat the food quickly and Jill leaves to do her chores because I got injured and we have the same chores she's been forced to cover my work as well.

I plan on joining at lunch so we can finish the rest of the work together for now I'll just get some shut eye.

At lunch Jill came to get me and we both made it to the kitchen "don't fly too high b*tch",the she wolf that gave me a scare says.

"Don't mind her, Joanne is just mad about what happened to Ms Astrid",Jill whispers to me taking a bit of her steak,so that her name ,the food here is decent but Jill said that sometimes when one of the she wolves get upset with a human ,we all get punished and the food is taken away.

"What happened to the head servant?"I ask Jill, who is eating like there is no tomorrow.

" The Alpha called her to his office and when she left ,her right arm was a mangled piece of flesh with bone sticking out and was fired immediately",she says.

" What?"How can he do that? What kind of place is this?

" Others are saying it's because of what she did to you , even Joanne wasn't spared. I heard that her pay check was cut and I also heard that despite the fast healing of wolves her hand will never be able to work the same after she heals",she says.

So the servants get paid and only us slaves as the wolves put it are here to pay off something in exchange for a place to sleep and food?

"Why are you here Jill?"I ask and she pauses and stops eating.

"My mother sold me ",she says and continues eating like nothing happened.

The doors bust open and a tall slender woman walks in "where's the b*tch!",she says looking around before setting her eyes on a blonde shy girl and dragging by the hair from her seat.

"What happened,what is she going to do to her?",

"Must have slept with one of the males that the wolf has set her eyes on, Roman", she then explains that Roman was the man that stopped Vincent from choking the daylights out of me.

Everyone continues eating like nothing happened,I guess it must be a common occurrence here,but I can't help but worry about that girl which is all the more reason for me to get the hell out of this place or call the police or something.

After eating Jill and I were sent to clean the Alpha's room and I was slowly hoping to take a look at him once again to take in his delicious scent.

One our way there we bumped into the man that led me to Syrus' study. Syrus I love the sound of his name.

Jill said he was the beta Collin,he and Syrus grew up together.

He looked deeply at Jill and I saw a hint of sadness in his eyes but maybe I was just imagining.

We entered the room that was next to his study,it was like those suites you see on television except this was dark and coldly decorated.I recalled his cold indifferent face and the room suited his character well,the curtains were black and his beddings too. The scent ,it was everywhere,Jill went ahead to clean the bathroom while I changed the sheets,the entire bed was covered in it,I knew I looked like a creep sniffing everything the pillows the sheets the cover,I couldn't help but lay down on them,it was like a drug,I couldn't get enough and just needed more ,I needed him ,I wondered how his lips would feel when kissing,how his hands would feel on every part of my body,if I were a cat I'd purr right now.

"What are you doing?"Jill snaps me out of my fantasy. What was I thinking? I can't believe I was thinking about the man that enslaved me.

"I don't know, maybe I'm just tired",I try to explain the reason I'm laying on the bed,she squints at me and grabs the mop going back into the bathroom.

The wolfsbane is a miracle potion.I feel a little stingy but I can use my hand just fine.I quickly look around the room since Jill won't let me do anything else. I enter the walk in closet and I was right this guy was really loaded,the shoes, ties and shirts all look expensive and they all have the intoxicating scent on them so I sniff everything rubbing it on my face too,the other side that I think belongs to the Mrs is empty so his not married,I don't know why I'm happy at that thought.

I try on his expensive watches and try his shirts on and imitate him in the mirror.

"Jill look who do I look like ,you now belong to me,you must pay back what your father owes",I say making my voice deep.

Jill looks at me in horror "what the f**k do you think you're doing! Do you want to die, return that immediately!",she says, placing a hand on her heart.

How boring she won't let me do anything,so I go back to the closet and try on the watches,I wonder how much these are worth, I don't plan on sticking around so I'll need money when I escape from here, since that father of mine took my savings ,so I take one , no two ,he has a lot I'm sure he won't even notice, I  get a few thumb rings as well and also sneak a handkerchief into my bra.

I walk around the room and find a hidden safe.I remember when my brother would take me for break-ins and have me open the safes. Ms Dutch not only taught us how to read but to steal as well ,how to pickpocket like a professional and forge signatures. Some people are just too easy to read. You can easily guess the combination to their safes.

I don't know Syrus well enough so I walk to a sitting area with an unfinished glass of whiskey that I finish up and even drink some straight out of the bottle and just wait for Jill to finish.

Human alcohol helps wolves relax, it's like a herbal medicine tea you take to calm your nerves.

The rest of the day is a blur and before I realize it it's already night time,I take the watches and rings out and hide them in my trunk. Now we have to find, a way out of this place,this place seems to be situated in a secluded area and has a few guards,the only problem are the woods that surround this place just acres and acres of wood,I don't want to get lost and die in the forest,to be cremated is better than being left to the elements.
