Sheryl’s P.O.V. (Continued)
He decided to come back now, huh?
“Wow! Visiting your favorite place again, huh?” My whole body stiffened, snapping out of my trance, and my eyelashes flickered in fear when I sensed Sylvester’s presence near me.
Sylvester Knight, the leader of my bullies and the first son of Alpha Adrian Knight.
"You looked so cute when you tried to mask your fear, Sheryl, you know that, right?" He asked me in a husky but sarcastic voice. It was like a predator toying with its prey before hunting it.
"Open your eyes, girl," he asked me in the same voice, the hotness on my face increasing, indicating he is closing the distance between our faces.
"Sylvester, what are you doing here?" I breathed out in relief when the voice of the nurse startled me, and it was a relief.
"I just came here to see my fellow student, who is so clumsy that she always falls down the stairs, Ms. Shaw." He answered arrogantly.
I was still holding my breath, praying to God to make him leave this place as soon as possible.
"Either you are going out of this room right now, or I am going to call the alpha." She threatened him, and my heart felt ease.
"Okay, Ms. Hamster. Geez... why did you work up so much?" He replied jokingly, but I knew how arrogant he can be if he wants to be.
I was glad that he left after that. I took a deep breath and closed my eyes.
Rachel didn’t ask or say anything to me after that. The silence in the room was welcoming.
In eight months, I will graduate from here, and after that, I have no desire to stay in this pack even for a day more.
I want to pursue medicine and already have filled out a few medical college forms in the human cities.
That’s right.
I don’t have any desire to stay in a pack, and finding a mate is already a big no.
I mean, who will want a wolf-less mate?
After resting for a while, I slowly walked out of the room when I felt that I can walk on my own.
Rachel still instructed me to stay cautious before I left the room.
After ensuring that it was safe to go out, I limped towards the back exit of the school. Although Ms. Wendall got permission for me, I didn't want to be seen by any student now.
After exiting the building, I limped towards the parking lot, cursing all those boys, but what could I do other than curse them? This world is always like this.
Being optimistic is a good thing, but I don’t know how long I would be able to cope with all this.
My breath hitched when I smelled him right behind me.
Damn it.
He once again masked his scent to take me off guard.
I didn’t stop and continued walking, pretending that I didn’t sense his presence.
“Ouch.” I yelped in pain when he suddenly grabbed my injured arm.
“Don’t think that making these voices will make me pity you, Sheryl.”
“When did you pity me, Sylvester? I don’t think that this emotion even exists in your heart?” I taunted him, looking straight into his eyes.
Those cold green eyes.
Once there was affection and care for me, and now all I could see was hatred and coldness.
He immediately grabbed my jaw, hovering over me.
I bit my lower lip so hard that it oozed blood, but I refused to make any sound.
I kept my eyes locked with him, challenging him to hit me.
I was sure that my eyes were now mirroring the same hatred that he always showed towards me.
He tightened his grip on my jaw, almost digging his nails inside my skin.
You wanted to play this game of torment.
Fine by me.
Let’s see who will give in first.
I am good at enduring pain, and he knows it very well.
I sneered internally when he lost his patience in just a few seconds of my silence.
He pushed me hard, making the back of my head hit the wall behind me.
The impact was hard enough to make me see stars in front of my eyes.
Still, I refused to make any sound in front of me.
I don’t fight back in front of others for the sake of his title, but not when I am alone with him.
It’s not that I want to be alone with him.
Heck, I don’t even want to see his shadow.
“Don’t let me see you again, Sheryl, or else you will regret your birth.”
He stormed away, and I slumped my tense shoulders while rubbing the back of my head and my throbbing jaw now.
It took me a good few minutes to suppress the pain.
I took my bag from the floor, which I had dropped earlier, and threw it on my back before taking a few deep breaths again.
I slowly started limping again.
Six more months, Sheryl, and you will be out of this hellhole.
I continued comforting myself in my heart, and still tears filled my eyes.
I slowly reached the parking lot, feeling numb to the pain in my body as I felt heavy in my heart.
Why was this world so hard on me?
I looked at my knees and sighed helplessly while removing my cycle from the stand.
I knew that paddling would pain me, but going home on foot wasn’t an option for me either.
I rode the bicycle and winced in pain when I started pedaling.
I decided to take a shortcut today. It was still broad daylight. So, I wished that I didn’t face any danger in that alley.
There are two ways to go home from school.
One was from a direct road, but it was a long route.
Another was from a deserted alley. It cut the distance in almost half, but the alley always remained so deserted, even in the broad daylight, that you could expect a ghost to jump in front of you at any time.
Of course, I am a normal human and afraid of ghosts.
So, what if I am a werewolf?
Ghosts can be anywhere, right?
Alpha Adrian had tightened the security around the borders, and that’s why I had no fear of seeing rogues or any unwanted creature here.
So, it’s just ghosts.
So, I steeled my heart and pedaled the cycle towards the alley. I was still slow, but after some time, I didn’t feel much pain and started paddling hard so that I could get out of the alley as soon as possible.
It seemed that today was one of those days when you had a sh*tty luck all day long.
I was almost in the middle of the way when I heard some muffled voices, more like painful moans and angry growls.
I stopped the cycle and looked around fearfully.
Every pup over 5 years has mandatory training every day. So, I knew how to fight, but with a single person.
I sniffed, and my heart stopped beating in fear.
Rogues!!!!!!!!!!
How the hell did they enter the pack, and how could they be here? This deep in the pack?
The alley is between the backsides of the two opposite buildings. They had no windows open in this direction.
Crap, they didn’t have any window openings in this direction. They had a few doors on the ground floor, but all of them were tightly shut, and a few had locks on them.
I still concentrated on the source of the voices.
I flinched and moved my neck around furiously when I heard the clinking of metals or someone hitting something very harshly.
I sniffed harder but didn’t get any other scent other than theirs.
Are they fighting with each other or a pack member who has masked his scent?
I gulped hard in fear while stretching my neck to see the other side of the next turn of the way, but I got nothing there.
I have two options now.
One, go ahead and check what’s going on.
Second, move back, run away, and inform the first person I meet outside the alley.
Of course, I am going to choose the second, right?
I cursed myself for having a curious mind, as my mind won over my heart and chose the first option.
Curiosity kills the cat, right?
And I don't want to die this young.
Heck, I still haven't fulfilled any of my dreams and wishes.
I decided to have a peek, and then I would run away in the direction from which I came along.
So, I slowly walked towards the section where the alley had another turn.
I almost glued myself to the wall so that no one could notice my presence here.
I thanked the goddess for giving me all the other abilities of wolves, including the ability to mask my scent.
Today was definitely not my day, and I don’t want those rogues to smell me, and they kill me here.
