LOGINSheryl’s P.O.V. (Continued)
My ears perked up when I heard someone yelling, or more than two people yelling angrily.
With a furiously beating heart, I slowly moved my face, which was now completely glued to the wall at the end of the wall.
My grip on the cycle's grills was tightened in fear.
My eyes widened in horror when I saw the horrible scene in front of me.
I immediately straightened my face, my whole back pressed to the wall and the cycle pressed on my abdomen.
There were actually seven rogues in human forms, and they were fighting with a pack member.
That member had his back towards me. He looked familiar, but I couldn’t tell by his back who he was.
Rogues were cursing aloud while trying to pin him down, but he was a good fighter.
“Run, Sheryl. You will be a liability for him instead of being a help. Go and find help for him,” I urged myself in my heart.
I was about to move away when I saw a rogue who was lying on the ground suddenly get up and pick up a solid stick from the ground.
Before I could even make a sound, he hit that pack member on his head from behind. I covered my mouth with both my hands to stop myself from screaming.
He hissed in pain and kicked the rogue in front of him.
He staggered a little but moved on his heels swiftly, grabbing that stick and breaking it before kicking that rogue.
I wanted to go and help him, but I know my abilities very well.
I decided to go and bring help for him instead of standing still here.
I rode the cycle hurriedly and almost fell one time because my body was trembling hard.
I started paddling with all my strength to get out of the alley as soon as possible and bring help for him.
There is no way that I will let anything happens to any pack member of mine even if they loathe me.
I stopped right at the exit of the alley and took my phone out of my jacket pocket with trembling hands. I was trembling so hard that I almost dropped the phone in my first attempt.
Werewolves don’t need cell phones, but now all the people keep a cell phone with them to search for something or to order something online.
People like me and minors use them to communicate too.
“Hello, hello. I.. I am seven blocks before The Bridge High School. Th.. there are seven or more rogues here in a back alley behind The Patrix. They are fighting with a pack member, probably a minor; I don’t know. Pl.. please send help,” I told the person who picked up the call in the Gamma’s office, which is responsible for the pack’s security.
I kept my tone hushed so that those rogues wouldn’t hear me.
“Sheryl, is that you?” the person asked me in a shocked tone.
“Yes.. yes. It’s me. Please send someone here. He.. he is fighting b.. but they are more than seven. Please send help,” I pleaded desperately, glancing behind me from time to time.
I almost screamed in fear when I heard a shrill scream coming from that side.
“Goddess! Run from there, Sheryl. The help is on their way,” the person whom I still didn’t recognize asked me anxiously.
“He… he is alone… I… I am at south entrance of the alley.” I told him in a trembling voice, looking towards that direction with a fearful gaze.
“For Goddess’ sake, Sheryl. Run away. You can’t fight them,” that person almost yelled at me, making me more afraid than I was already.
“Okay,” I still uttered a response and hung up.
He is right. I should run away if I want to live. Those rogues will kill him soon, and then they will come for me.
I put my phone in my jacket and removed the jacket. I was feeling so hot that I thought that I would get a heatstroke.
Blame the adrenaline rush for that.
I started padding again after stuffing my jacket inside my bag and putting a mask on my face. I was afraid that there would be more rogues outside the alley.
Although I had masked my scent, they could recognize me by my face too, right?
I started paddling again after tying a scarf on my head too.
Why did I have a scarf with me?
Because I don’t know if I’ll get any injury on my head at any time in school, and I don’t want my grandpa worried to see those injuries.
I heard more screams coming from that side, which only made my heart run a marathon with all its strength.
“Run, Sheryl. Run,” I urged myself and started driving the bike again.
But I couldn’t go further, not even outside the alley.
Damn it.
Having a conscience is also a big disadvantage in a situation like this.
His family will be devastated if something happens to him today, and I won’t be able to live guilt-free all my life.
I saw him getting hit on the head. He didn’t alert the pack security. It meant that he is also a minor. No matter how good his built is, he will be exhausted soon because of blood loss.
He would die soon if he doesn’t get help.
I couldn’t see his face, or else I would have known who that boy is.
Still, it doesn’t matter. My heart was now beating furiously against my ribcage, making me feel a bit of pain there.
“No, Sheryl. They are rogues, the bad people who kill anyone without even blinking once, and you are just a pathetic wolf-less girl. You are no match for them,” I scolded myself, berating myself in my heart in the process.
My grip on the handle of the bike tightened while I continued breathing heavily, jerking my head a little a few times.
“Goddess, Sheryl! Think about your grandpa. What will happen to him if something happens to you?” I continued scolding myself, but it was as if my body had its own mind. I moved the bike in the previous direction once again.
“Okay…. This will be the last time that I will try to save a life. After that, I will keep my eyes shut to worldly affairs like this.”
As I said earlier, having a conscience is bad in the situation.
I almost fell to the ground with my bike when I heard more growls coming from behind me now.
“Damn it. You are doomed, Sheryl. You are going to die today,” I scolded myself before starting to drive the bike inside the alley with all the strength left in my body.
Either because of the adrenaline rush or my desire to live because now rogues were behind me too, I drove at a high speed, taking a sharp turn at the corner, getting the attention of all of them.
The boy was now holding two rogues, beating them brutally, and two rogues were about to attack him from behind.
I slowly leaned my body down, picking up a thick rod from the ground, and threw it towards those two rogue attackers behind that boy.
Of course I was good at aiming. I am an athlete and also a part of the archery team.
Before they could register, the rod hit both of them straight on their faces, making them scream in pain.
“More are coming. Come on, let’s go,” I yelled at the boy in panic, hitting the brake near him.
He threw the rogues on the ground and hopped on the bike behind me.
I accelerated the bike with all my strength, leaving exhaustion like a black cloud on their faces, and drove away.
Damn it. He is heavy. I felt as if my bike would flip over because of his weight on the back.
I gasped in shock when the boy sitting behind me wrapped his hands around my waist.
What the hell?
How could he do this to me?
I could feel his aura. He must be of a high rank.
Who was he?
I know all the high-ranking families, and he isn’t one of them.
Is he visiting our pack from another pack?
And he also has a strong wolf.
Maybe a future alpha or beta?
“Why didn’t you call anyone for help? Are you stupid or what?” I yelled at him while still driving at a fast speed.
“Fighting seven rogues at your own? A… are you a superhero or what?” I continued; the adrenaline started settling down in my body, and I felt pain in my injuries now.
“You really had a death wish,” I mumbled and was about to relax my body as we were now far from that alley, and I saw a group of warriors going there when I gasped in shock while straightening my back.
He… he… he just pinched my waist?
What the f**K?
“You are still so loud,” he commented in a hoarse voice.
I hit the brake abruptly, resulting in my body falling forward, pressed by his muscular chest.
“Get off,” I yelled angrily.
Gabriel’s P.O.V. (Continued)Whenever I thought that I would be able to take over the alpha position from my father soon or that I was becoming capable enough to take some responsibilities from my father, something surfaced, proving how incompetent we were—that we couldn’t even provide our pack members a basic sense of security.I ran away from Sheryl.I agree, but I went on a secret mission. I am a part of a secret organization that works to eliminate serious threats to our world. At that time, there was a secret hunter’s group that was about to attack three big packs at the same time.I left everything on Sylvester before going for that mission.I learned about what he did after coming back and knew that he messed up things but didn’t know the extent.I moved towards Sylvester while seething in anger.“What do you want to say on this, Sylvester?” I asked him angrily, shutting out everyone around me.He flinched but didn’t look up.“You are supposed to protect the weak, Sylvester. As
Gabriel’s P.O.V.“We want justice for our son, Alpha. No wolf in this pack is allowed to beat a fellow pack member like this. She should be severely punished.” Jacob’s mother, a regular wolf but owner of two big clothing shops inside the pack, Nina, cried her heart out while demanding justice for her son.Sheryl really beat him badly. He was still unconscious and critical.I guess his arrogance not only came from his friendship with Shannon but also from his parents' money. That's why he still came after Sheryl when Shannon was in the dungeons.“I am not denying that she saved the whole pack in the previous attack, but it doesn’t give her the authority to treat other pack members like this.” Nina continued badmouthing Sheryl while crying.“And why do you think that Sheryl attacked Jacob, Nina?” Mom asked her in a stern voice, face cold, but eyes burning with anger.Nina stopped crying and looked at my mother in a daze.Mom didn’t say another word but picked up the remote control of th
Sheryl’s P.O.V. (Continued)“I never fought back because I didn’t want to hurt you guys, but you all assumed my act of leniency was cowardice. Who is the coward here, huh?” I continued roaring at him while twisting his hand to the side, making him scream in pain again.I threw his hand harshly and then punched him in his face, using all my strength. He couldn’t even produce a sound this time. He stopped breathing while his eyeballs almost popped out of their sockets, his face flushed red, veins popping out on his temples, and pain written all over his face.I didn’t stop there. My whole body was now burning with rage.“Why do you think I never fought when I am a trained fighter? Every pack member…. Every pack member knows that I have been training under Beta Caden for ages. Still you think I am pathetic enough to endure you just because I am scared of you. You b**tard.” I continued punching him while yelling at him.“Sheryl. Stop.” I heard someone yelling at me, but I continued throwi
Sheryl’s P.O.V.“Not bad, Sheryl. You have been out of practice for a long time, and yet you succeeded in scoring 8 and 9. I am sure that you will be in your form in no time.” Our archery teacher, Mr. Julius Nester, encouraged me, patting my shoulder gently after I shot the tenth arrow but it still didn’t hit the center.I smiled while nodding in response and put down my bow. My shoulders and hands were now aching badly. It had been more than two weeks since I practiced. And I was still recovering. So, I understood this fatigue and why I wasn’t able to perform just like before.“Take some rest and then you can go back.” He spoke to me further while giving me a towel.“Thanks, Mr. Nester.” I thanked him sincerely and took the towel.“I heard that you applied for online classes?” he asked me with a concerned tone.“Yeah. The doctor advised me not to put strain on my body, but I can’t slack off in my studies, right?” I replied to him in the same casual manner.“You are right. You have a
Gabriel’s P.O.V. (Continued)“So, you mean to say that you will not stop her, an….and Sheryl doesn’t remember what happened during the challenge. There is a possibility that she can reject us because of what I did because I hit my head somewhere and became insane for ten months?” Sylvester asked him, almost shrieking in the process.Dad grimaced but nodded in agreement. Both I and Zyphre were only a heartbeat away from killing Sylvester. He slumped on his chair like a deflated balloon, completely devastated, but I knew my brother very well. This is about our mate. If I am not willing to give up this easily, why would he?“But you truly know your mistake, and you want your mate not to reject you; you still have a chance.” Dad added it further while taking a relaxed position on his chair. We both immediately straightened up our upper bodies and leaned towards the desk with perked up ears.“Why are you two looking at me like this?” he asked us while looking at us warily when we both move
Gabriel’s P.O.V.“But now you know she is our mate. Can you stop her from going away from the pack, Dad? And why did she choose that university? It takes a day by train to reach there, a… and because of the distance, they still don’t have an airport there.” Sylvester continued complaining while pleading to our father.I was also shocked to know that Sheryl chose Southford University and a few faraway universities for her degree.“Ask yourself, Sylvester. Why doesn't she stay anywhere near the pack? The way you treated her, it's still her faith in our pack that she is still here. Don’t forget that she can go to her father’s pack at any time.” Dad scolded him while glaring hard at him when I was about to interject.I shut my mouth and glared at Sylvester too.It was his fault that Sheryl decided to move away from us. She was stubborn and her determination is unshakable. She had Edwin and our father’s support. So, it was impossible to take their help to stop her.“But spending six years
