Sheryl’s P.O.V.
My only goal while staying in school all the time was to ignore a specific group of people, not that I am scared of them. It's just, I am sick of being injured almost every day.
I am scared of ghosts. Of course, I am.
I am a normal human being, and a normal human is meant to afraid of ghosts.
But there are some people in the world who are scarier than ghosts.
Just like the gang of bullies in our school who are adamant to make my life miserable every second that I spend in the school.
I breathed out aloud in relief after successfully getting downstairs, but it was so short-lived that I doubted it occurred as soon as I turned at the junction of the corridor.
“Aaahhh.” I screamed in panic when someone, I know who, tripped me. I was vigilant but yet not vigilant enough to save myself.
Again.
I screamed in pain once again when my knees and palms hit the floor and my chin almost touched it.
It was bad. The intensity of the pain was enough to tell me that it was bad. For a second, I couldn’t even breath.
“Watch out, Sheryl. Why I always found kissing the floor?” Jacob Hoffman, one of those bullies, taunted teasingly.
I couldn’t retaliate because it would worsen the situation for me.
One thing that I learned from all these bullies is that they don’t like people talking back to them.
More you talk back, more they find a way to torment you.
“Are you cursing us, Sheryl?” John Fisher, another bully, asked me in the same taunting tone, but I was in so much pain to even register what they were saying.
For a good few seconds, I stayed in the same position. I slowly sat up when I regained my breath again. I hissed in pain, tears filling my eyes immediately when I tried to fold my knees.
I only had one question in my mind.
Why me?
I wasn’t the only scholarship student here, neither did I the only nerd.
So, why me?
I slowly opened my eyes and looked at them.
The group of the most handsome boys of the school was standing in different posture in front of me. All of them were handsome to the extent where they could take over any famous model’s career at any time.
I didn’t know what their parents fed them, but all of them had a masculine body with a godly handsome face, a killing height of over six feet.
But I couldn’t admire their handsomeness because all I wanted right now was to curse them from the bottom of my heart.
Poor me…
I am the only subject of bullying for them when the rest of the girls in school got their admiration and care.
They were like queen bee with so many slave bees flying around them.
“What’s going on here?” I thanked God when I heard my homeroom teacher, Mrs. Jennifer Wendall’s voice.
This school was an elite school and the good thing was that most of the teachers were also from elite families.
So, they don’t show any fear or favouritism towards any student studying here.
That’s why her arrival made me breathe out in relief.
“Sheryl…. What happened?” I looked at her, but my vision was blurred because of tears.
“Nothing happened, Mrs. Wendall. I just tripped on my feet.” I gave her the perfect excuse that I always gave to my teachers whenever they found me in this state.
“Let me see your knees.” She asked while grabbing my arm and helped me stand up. I screamed in pain again, tightened my grip on her hand, almost falling on my knees again.
Once again, I heard a very faint sound like a growl but didn’t pay attention to that. It was common among us.
You see, we are not completely human.
We are werewolves, but the worst part for me was that my wolf was dormant.
We received our wolves at the age of sixteen, but mine didn’t mind showing up.
“It’s bad. You have a competition next week.” Mrs. Wendall mumbled. I slowly got up with her help and breathed out aloud.
“Luther, help her to the infirmary,” she ordered another student sternly.
“I have math class next, Ms. Wendall. Mr. Turner will not let me go inside the class if I go late,” He immediately protested, and I saw her glaring at him.
“I will tell him. Now go,” she ushered him with a stern gaze.
“No need, Ms. Wendall. I guess I can walk on my own.” I said to her politely, saving Luther because we all know Mr. Will Turner is the worst teacher in the school.
“Are you sure?” she asked me, concern written all over her face.
“She tripped on her own feet, Ms. Wendall. You heard her.” Luther protested, and I tightened my grip on Mrs. Wendall’s hand when she was about to say something more to him.
“It’s okay, Ms. Wendall. I think I can manage on my own. I just need a minute.” I comforted her with a faint smile, but I could see that she was clearly angry and disappointed.
She looked back at the boys angrily. I had my back towards them, and I didn’t have any intention to look at their faces to know their expressions.
“They have no rights to treat you like this, Sheryl. You are also a part of this pack just like them,” she grumbled while taking me towards the infirmary. She had a cold personality. Yet she never leaves any student alone if he needs help.
“Thanks for standing up for me from time to time, Mrs. Wendall, but you also know very well that it won’t do anything good for me.” I replied nonchalantly, wincing in pain whenever I took a step.
“You can’t stay silent and suffer like this always, Sheryl. I know th.. that you don’t have a strong background like they have, but it doesn’t give them any right to treat you like this.” She replied to me in a stern tone.
“But things are always like this in our society, right? Fear the strong and bully the weak. In my case, I fall in the latter.” I once again replied nonchalantly, but the pain in my chest increased.
It’s not easy or funny to berate yourself when you have high self-esteem.
I was glad that she didn’t utter a word again. This silence was comforting. My whole concentration was on walking now.
After my mother died during a rogue attack when I was just five, my father left me with my maternal grandparents.
When I turned seven, I learned that he took a chosen mate from his pack, and now he had another family in which I had no place.
After my grandmother’s death, all I had was my grandfather as my only family. As a regular gamma she-wolf, I had no status in the pack, and that’s why they all treat me like trash.
“Not again, Sheryl,” Rachel Hamster, the nurse, exclaimed in shock when she saw me.
“I am leaving you in your care, Rachel. Don’t let anyone come near her here. If anyone dares to disobey, you are free to dial Alpha’s number.” Mrs. Wendall instructed her sternly and looked at me.
“I am okay, Mrs. Fisher. I can heal like a normal wolf, and you know that.” I assured her once again. She didn’t smile but looked at me sympathetically before leaving me with Rachel.
“This is the fifth time in less than two weeks, Sheryl. You need to be careful if you don’t want to lose your knees.” Rachel said to me worriedly.
“I know, Rachel. I will be careful from now on.” I replied to her while looking out of the window with a blank gaze.
After my grandmother died, my grandfather tried to persuade my father to take me back to his family. He was sick and knew very well how the others in the pack treated me.
But my father crushed all my hopes of having my father with me again when my stepmother refused to take me in. They had two children on their own now, and she didn't want to take care of her stepdaughter, not when I didn't have any source of income to provide for them.
It’s not like I needed their financial support, but their words stung worse than a poisonous scorpion’s sting.
“It’s all done. If you want to go back home, you can, Sheryl. Ms. Wendall just called and told me that she got permission for you.” Rachel told me gently.
“Thanks, Rachel, but I want to lie down for a bit,” I requested, and she nodded in understanding. She helped me lie down and tucked me inside the sheet.
“Rest for a while, Sheryl.” She instructed me while gathering her equipment. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath.
I don’t want my grandfather to see me wounded once again, and that’s why I didn’t want to go home this early.
“Oh, you know Sylvester’s twin brother, Gabriel Knight, is coming back?” Rachel asked me, and my whole body trembled hard.
Gabriel Knight.
He is coming back?
Sylvester’s P.O.V.I and Calvin shared a glance with each other but kept our heads hanging low in front of my parents.“Why didn’t you tell me earlier?” He asked Mrs. Wandall in a pissed voice, but the anger in his voice was enough to make me shudder a little.“Because Sheryl didn’t want to. She always said that complaining will not bring anything good to her. She is afraid that they will torment her more if she complains to you or any of their parents.” Mrs. Wandall answered calmly, but I felt a hard squeeze in my chest.“So, she lost all the trust in me, huh?” Dad muttered angrily. This wasn’t the first time that we got physical with her, but I never intended to hurt her like this.Heck, I hated myself whenever I saw her hurt and in pain.“She had already requested online classes after this semester, but this needs your approval. So, she asked me to talk to you about this after the semester.” Mrs. Wandall added in a serious voice.I slowly lifted my head up, widening my eyes in surp
Sheryl’s P.O.V. (Continued)The only good thing was that I saved my knees, but the pain in my palms, elbows, and chin was unbearable. For a few seconds, I stayed lying on the ground in the same position, on my stomach.Tears fell from my eyes because of the pain. But I know how heartless these people were. They were selfish and cruel. The source of their entertainment was others’ pain, and I wasn’t in the mood of giving them this satisfaction now.Worst, I would have to leave the pack early.I was ready for that.I slowly got up and pulled my bag on my back again.“If you can’t walk steady, you should go to a doctor and let him give you a full body check-up.” I said to her calmly. Her smug expression immediately twisted to an uglier one.“How dare you talk to me like that?” She roared and was about to raise her hand on me when I tilted my head a little.“I will advise you to be careful in your action, Shannon. I have to see Alpha and Luna almost every day,” I said to her, but it was m
Sheryl’s P.O.V.I kept my head down, trying hard to ignore their stares, burning holes in my whole body while walking towards the main building of the school.I hated being the center of attention, but the news about yesterday’s event had spread like wildfire in the pack.I didn’t know who did this and had no desire to know about that person either.“Sheryl.” I stopped in my tracks, my whole body on alert, when Raymond, the future gamma, called me from behind. My heart started beating furiously as I clutched the strap of my bag tightly.I slowly lifted my head up and saw him coming towards me.I was already at the entrance of the building, and he was already inside.“Come with me,” he asked me and tried to grab my arm, but I immediately stepped away; his hand hung empty in the air for a few seconds before he pulled it back.I didn’t like to be touched, especially by the members of his gang.“Follow me.” He instructed me grimly, but it only made me stiffen more.He spun on his heels, m
Gabriel’s P.O.V.“You must be happy now, right?” I asked Sylvester in a pissed tone while walking inside the pack house.“We have talked about this already, Gabriel,” he replied to me sternly, but it only infuriated me more.“And I instructed you not to go overboard, Sylvester. You don’t want her. Fine by me, but I want her.” I yelled at him while yanking his arm.He immediately growled at me, and I growled back, standing head-to-head with him now, challenging him to even bat his lashes.“What the hell are you two doing?” I dug my nails inside my palm to suppress my anger.Onyx was so mad that he wanted to beat the sh*t out of Sylvester, but Mom was here.We both backed off at the same time, and I looked at our mother. She stopped behind me, and I slowly moved towards her.“What’s wrong with you two, huh? Ever since you came back, Gabriel, I found you two arguing badly. What the hell is going on between you two?” She raised the question once again, her anger and disappointment clearly
Sheryl’s P.O.V. (Continued)“Grandpa, what are you doing here?” I asked him surprisingly. I specifically asked Alpha Adrian not to call my grandfather. So, his visit here surprised me.“Luna.” Grandpa greeted Luna Hailley with a respectful bow and stopped beside me.“Why are you here?” I asked him again, this time a bit anxious.“I went to school, and the guard told me you are here.” He replied to me calmly this time.“It’s good that you are here. It’s almost lunchtime. Stay for the lunch, you two,” Luna Hailley asked us with a cheerful smile.I panicked and looked at her immediately.“Th… thanks for the consideration, Luna. But I really need to go home now.” I replied to her anxiously. Her expression changed and her smile faded, and it turned into a concerned one.“What’s wrong, Sheryl?” She asked me with concern, taking my hand again.I took a deep breath and closed my eyes. How could I tell her that I am afraid of her sons and didn’t want to stay in the same room with them.“I thin
Sheryl’s P.O.V.“Are you sure that this is the tattoo you saw?” Alpha Adrian asked me after I finished the sketch of the tattoo that I had seen before the accident.I gulped down the fear and took a few deep breaths. He took my hands in his and squeezed them lightly. It was a gesture to assure me that I am safe now. This was always like this.“They can’t hurt you now, Sheryl. I admitted that we still couldn’t get any whiff of their whereabouts in the pack, which is a complete failure for me as the alpha of the pack, but I assure you that no one will come after you now.” He assured me, making me smile weakly.I was still staring at the tattoo I drew. It looked so familiar, and the throbbing pain at the back of my head was distracting me from the conversation from time to time.“It’s not the first time that hunters entered so deeply inside our pack, Alpha Adrian. You do everything that you can do to keep us safe, but with open borders, even the Goddess can’t protect everyone.” I tried t
