An Alpha's Obsession

An Alpha's Obsession

Alex Heart was never meant to be seen… at least, not like this. Scarred, betrayed, and stripped of her title, the former Masked Warrior of the East is thrust into the cruel spotlight when her own fiancé tears off her mask in front of the entire realm. Rejected, humiliated, and falsely accused of the fire that killed her parents, Alex walks away with nothing but her pride and pain intact. But fate isn’t done with her yet. When she collapses on the cold steps of the Lycan King’s estate, it’s not death that meets her, it’s Adrian Frost. Powerful, mysterious, and utterly captivating. Where others see her scars, Adrian sees a survivor. And he’s not letting her disappear. Drawn into a web of political intrigue, bloodlines, and betrayal, Alex must confront not just her past, but the parts of herself she buried long ago. And as the bond between her and Adrian deepens, so does the danger. In a world where loyalty can’t be trusted and love is a dangerous game, will Alex risk opening her heart again... or let it harden for good?

Chapter: Chapter 74: Coincidence at the Border
ALEX These aren't the borders I remember. We stop just across from it and my body soaks up the details it's been dying to focus on since the drive up here. The scent of cold, almost stale air fills my nose, combatted only by what has to be blood and nothing else. Beyond us, a communion of trees and shrubs, strikingly different from the part of the plain all three of us stand.“What happened to sigils?” I mutter, and they both hide the chuckle working in their throats.“These aren't the pack borders. They're the clans” Zane says, like I understand what the difference is. All it looks like is the end of a desert where the stretch of barrenness meets cold chill of darkness. There's this awful taste at the back of my throat, gently rising as we scan the premises for foreign scents or unusual faces… or whatever Zane was muttering about back there. Can't piece together most of what he's saying when my senses keep clashing between every step we take across this place. Something feels

Chapter: Chapter 73: A Party?
Chapter 73ALEXThe armory's slowly become the room I visit the more often in the packhouse. Though it's more Sage's job than it is mine, clearing the weaponry used for border patrol and training sessions is a lot less burdensome than being on the grounds and actually participating is. It also means less frequent moments of avoiding gazes and pretending I'm actually concerned about training or patrol rotations. Though on the downside, it's hard to pretend I don't feel Sage's glances from the table beside me every now and then. “Say it” I scribble on some logbooks as more weapons fail the viability test. “You know you want to.”For a moment, she hesitates, throwing on that unbothered cape again. My attention returns to the papers, and she lets it go……Or so I think.“You can’t keep coming in here and stinking the whole place with that depressed look.”She tosses a pen in my direction but I smack it away before it can hit me.“I've told you you don't have to come down here everyday.

Chapter: Chapter 72: Planning Something
LIAMAfter being unconscious for nearly two weeks, Maya woke up today. I hadn't told anyone, not even Adrian. But there was only so long I could go without breaking the news. Besides, Adrian comes up to the infirmary to check on her everyday, so while I made it up there at noon, I half-expected him to already be there. Only… it wasn't him. It was—“Logan?”He leans against the railing of the windows, staring down at the almost empty training facility. Instinctively, my eyes dart back to my mate. “Maya” I mutter, rushing to her, and I guess Logan interpreted that exactly as I meant it. She groans, asleep and not in pain. That's good. “You didn't think I'd hurt her, did you?” He says. My eyes reach him and the unimpressed expression he greets me with. We haven't exactly had the best history. “What do you want?” I mutter. He searches me with his eyes, prying for information he won't find, then leans off the railings. “I actually came down here to congratulate you” he says. “Y

Chapter: Chapter 71: Logan's Aftermath
LOGAN (A couple moments ago)“So, did it work—”“Get out of my bed.”The words leave my mouth the moment I realise where I'm at… and who I'm with. It all feels wrong. Instant and immediate.Beside me, I hear the fabric shift, like she adjusts in confusion in response to my countenance. “What?”I finally turn my head.Jas is propped up on one elbow, sheets pulled loosely around her waist, dark hair spilling across my pillow like she belongs there. Her boobs are bare, her lips still sunken in what I assume is proof that her and I did something after Alex… ughhh.“You heard me,” I say. “Get out of my bed.”“Logan—”“Now.”That does it.She exhales sharply and sits up, annoyance flashing across her face as she gathers the sheet and rolls off. There’s no hurt in her eyes. There shouldn't be. It's not like her and I are dating or anything. I only brought her along after my exile was lifted cause I felt I'd need a muse for the time being.Didn't have the patience to think it through.“You

Chapter: Chapter 70: Adrian's Aftermath
Chapter 70ADRIANWhatever it cost me. It didn't matter. As long as the pack was safe. For over twenty years, that mantra remained at the back of my head, guiding every decision I made for my self and the ones I ruled over. Even while Logan was Alpha, before his forced exile, it lived and breathed through the walls, whispering and re-echoing whenever they got the chance to.And that's why, upon his return, I never stood in his way.Because as hard as it was to admit, the truth was pretty clear:The pack was doing much better with him around. It didn't matter that most were tilting in his direction. I didn't even care if they addressed him as Alpha instead. They were okay. They were happy, and they were safe.To me, that's all that ever mattered. Until… Alex.I'd never met a person that made me ready to debunk everything in the blink of an eye. Using my Alpha Aura on Liam, beating Zane in front of the entire pack, strangling Logan and more than ready to render him unconscious with

Chapter: Chapter 69: Aftermath
Chapter 69ALEXI slipped out of Logan’s room a couple hours into the night. He was still asleep when I left. Or maybe he wasn’t, and simply didn’t stop me. Either way, I didn’t look back to check. We’d both gone too far to pretend this was anything else now.Everything I did, I did because I wanted to. I don’t deny that. My body certainly doesn’t let me forget itBut, now that it's over, all that’s settled in my gut is the uncomfortable truth I’ve been trying to outrun since last night.I didn’t fix the emptiness, I just made it louder. Admitting that's a bit stupid now, I know. “Two thirty” I glance back to the clock on my bedside table. “I need to get some sle—”“It's the first time she's moved in weeks! She's recovering!”It's not a scream. As a matter of fact, I doubt his voice was even louder than it should be. Yet somehow, I picked it up. Liam's voice. Sounding anything but depressed for the first time in weeks!“She's… recovering?” I repeat, letting the words orbit my mind
