The moon hung in the sky but not fully out, as the clouds obscure its glow like smoke. The pack house lay still and quiet. The atmosphere feels very peaceful - no one moving around, the fire that provides warmth has since been put out leaving the environment very quiet. Yet amidst this tranquility, there is a sound repeatedly calling her out.At first, it was very soft and gentle like a whisper in the breeze.“Lydia...”It felt like the name was floating in the air slowly stretching across the distance between herself and the source.Startled, she sat upright on her bed, feeling a tingling sensation on her skin. This wasn't the first time she'd encounter this voice. But tonight felt different; it wasn't resulting from her imagination, she was very much awake, it is not a dream. The atmosphere was lively, giving out energy. Her wolf perceived it immediately, moving restlessly.

Chapter: CHAPTER 6
The following night after the council members had made their decision, there was serious tension in the packhouse. Every passageway Lydia tried to walk through, there was murmuring – unfinished conversations that stopped immediately she drew closer. Her presence sent uneasiness through the crowd; some pack members gave her some suspicious look, while others looked at her, hiding the fear they felt, as if she had already been judged and condemned in their minds.Mothers were very protective of their children, pulling them very close to themselves trying to shield them. As for the warriors, they turned their eyes away avoiding any connection with her as though noticing her would attract the wrath of the council upon them. The atmosphere was filled with unspoken accusations and looks of fear, sending a reminder of the new insecure position she now finds herself in.Lydia raised up her face, as she pushed back against any weight pressing on her shoulders down. “Do not show any sign of we

She didn’t intend to eavesdrop on the elders, yet their voices got to her like a storm wave, their discussions passing through the wall of the room.“Causing division among us.”“Danger in her blood.”“Banish her for the good of the pack.”Every phrase got into her like a sharp blade leaving her thought revolving around the words. She could clearly recall hearing her father’s voice rising up against all arguments, and as a defence against all the accusations. But despite his attempts to protect her, his was just like one voice against seven other voices – his convictions were crushed under the pre

Chapter: CHAPTER 3
The council hall was filled with a smoky scent that always cuts around the atmosphere of the room. This night, the smoke was so heavy that even Alpha Jarius found himself coughing as he walked into the hall. Before him, is a long table that gives out light coming from flashes of torchlights. Seven elders were seated in their finely designed chairs around the table, with their faces giving expression of aging and suspicion. They all looked at him as he entered knowing the meeting would not be to his favor.“ You called us out too early,” Elder Marlic uttered in a coarse voice, his eyes looking with intensity. “The ceremony was just concluded recently, the pack should be celebrating, not getting worried.”“The pack is worried,” Jarius answered back in the same tone, though there is an underlying danger. “There are rumors spreading like wil
