Lydia’s Perspective

Everything around her narrowed down to one sound:

The horn rising towards the tracker’s lips.

Kyle sprang into action.

Rael adjusted his position.

Lydia’s heart raced so intensely that it felt like it might explode.

No. No. No.

If that horn blew, the entire pack patrol would rush into the rogue lands….

They would take Rael’s life.

They would take hers.

And Kyle…

Kyle would be marked a traitor.

Tension gripped Lydia’s throat.

Her feet felt rooted to the ground.

The tracker raised his arm—

Steel gleaming,

And the horn shimmering with cold dew.

Kyle was quick.

Rael was fierce.

But Lydia…

Lydia was finished being the prey.

In that moment, everything changed.

A power she had never experienced surged within her—intense, primal, and frightening. It coursed through her like fire colliding with ice. Her vision distorted, then sharpened sharply.

She didn’t shift.

She didn’t shout.

She didn’t even take a breath.

She released it all.

The world rushed by in a chaotic swirl of wind, rock, and darkness.Lydia couldn’t recall the moment she screamed. All she could sense was the air rushing around her, her garment wrapping around her legs, while the cliff edge disappeared above as she fell into the void. Her wolf shifted, crying out within herBut she was unable to. Fear tightened its grip on her instincts. The descent was too swift, the shock too overwhelming. In the distance, she heard Kyle call her name. She reached out desperately through the empty space..“Kyle!”A hand grabbed hers.A surge of connection shot through her like a bolt of lightning.ThenImpact.She collided with a soft yet firm thick mass of pine branches. They broke under her weight, cushioning her fall yet scraping at her arms, her clothes, and her skin. She barreled through layers of needles and branches before hitting the ground with a hard thud that knocked the breath out of her.For a brief moment, she lay still.Stars danced in her vision.H

  • Untamed   CHAPTER 42

The palace smoked with flame in the background. Lydia stood by the shattered gate, ash swirling around her like black snowflakes. The proud stone archway was now in ruins, its ward sigils lifeless and dull. Smoke obscured the towers, and distant screams continued to echo from within. Kyle wrapped his cloak tightly around her shoulders. “We need to go now,” he said, his voice calm, despite the trembling in his hands. “Before the Council has a chance to regroup.” Lydia nodded, her heart beating faster like a turbulent river. She still felt the lingering effects of her unleashed magic…warm silver coursing through her veins, while her wolf stirred restlessly within her, powerful yet confused and scared in ways she couldn't comprehend. Rael lingered a few steps ahead, half-hidden in the shadow of a fallen wall. “We don’t have much time,” he warned. “The Luna has already called her hunters. They will track the blood, the smoke, and the bond. You can’t hide your connection to him

  • Untamed   CHAPTER 41

Night draped itself over the palace with a deceptive stillness. Banners danced quietly in the gentle breeze of the courtyard, torches flickered steadily against the walls, and guards moved steadily in the watchtowers. To an outsider, it appeared to be just another typical night.Yet Kyle understood the truth. He had ridden through the night, urgency gnawing at his every muscle. He had received alarming news, delivered through trembling voices—ancient seal gates by the river had begun to crack, a dark force was rising, and one by one, the kingdom’s protective ward stones were failing.Within the throne hall, the Council convened. “No,” the Luna declared fiercely. “Not while the girl is alive.” Elders murmured among themselves, accusations thickening the atmosphere like a toxic fog. The guards at the entrance shifted uneasily. And amidst it all… a horn echoed.

  • Untamed   CHAPTER 40

The palace felt unsettlingly quiet. It wasn’t a peaceful silence, but rather the kind that suggested something was amiss.Lydia sensed it instantly as she stepped out of her room. The torches seemed to flicker unnaturally, as if swayed by an unseen breeze. The marble floors felt unusually cold against her bare feet.Tonight was the night the scroll had warned about. The Night of Three Signs. She hadn’t expected it to arrive so quickly. As she made her way down the spiral stairs, Serin emerged from the shadows and offered a small bow.“Your Majesty… it has begun,” he said.Lydia nodded, her heart racing. “What’s the first sign?”Serin paused for a moment. “It’s the river.”Lydia stopped dead in her tracks. The r

  • Untamed   CHAPTER 38

**Kyle’s Perspective**As soon as Kyle sensed the second presence, his wolf instinctively tensed up, baring its teeth. This wasn’t Rael’s crew. This wasn’t Lydia. And it definitely wasn’t a rogue scent he was familiar with. No, this was the unmistakable scent of the Council. They had arrived. Not to deal with raiders. Not to seek justice. But for her.Kyle felt his chest tighten with a surge of anger, a flame igniting within him.He had always followed the Council’s orders without question. But tonight….he planned to do more than just disobey. He would stand against them.Because Lydia was just ten feet behind Rael, wide-eyed and trembling, caught in a struggle…while the Council wanted her gone. Not if I can help it, he swore.A shadow shifted among the trees. Then another.Soon, four figures stepped forward, putting on the Council’s dark symbolic attire, masks hiding their identities, weapons ready….executioners.They weren’t trackers.
