Chapter: Chapter 10
“Tell me what is going on” I demanded once we are inside, “why did I hear that wolf talking in my mind?”“You should probably sit down first” he told me pulling out a chair for me. He was probably right, I was feeling a bit woozy from being hit over the head. “You’re going to think I am crazy” he said.Between the glowing hands and talking wolf, I already thought I had gone completely mad. “Just tell me already, what the fuck is going on? Do you know what that thing was in the cave?” I cried. “That creature is a demon from the underworld and I am a werewolf” he started. I laughed “that’s not possible.”None of this was possible. Underworld, like hell?“Willow, I need you to be open minded” he said, “I need you to believe in things you were told didn’t exist your whole life.”I stare at him in disbelief “prove it.”“I’ll do whatever you need” He changes form into the beautiful white wolf I saw in the cave and then back into a human. I rub my eyes. I can’t believe what I

Chapter: Chapter 9
I try to scream for help but there is no breathe left in my lungs. I get on my hands and knees, the pressure of something sharp pushes me back into the dirt. I feel blood dripping from my lip. “Where do you think you’re going?” a voice growls. My heart is racing my hands are starting to glow. The light from my body is lighting the cave up.“Oh so you did touch the table” the voice said, “we are right in track.”I knew that table had something to do with this. I wonder if there is a way I can control it. I focus trying to push the light out farther and it goes out completely. I’m in the pitch black again and cannot move. I hear a growl and see a pair of yellow eyes in the darkness. I’ve never been so scared, all I wanted was the light to come back. The flames start reigniting on the walls and I make eye contact with the most beautiful white wolf I’ve ever seen. It’s walking towards me growling; all of the hair standing up on its back. The weight of the foot comes off my

Chapter: Chapter 8
I’m running as fast as I can, I turn to look behind me and see a creature with spikes all over its head grab the red wolf, rip her head off and swallow the body without chewing. The creature sees me and comes barrelling towards me. What is that thing? I am too scared to scream. I jerk awake- a dream. Despite that awful dream and the lumpy couch, I feel well rested. I peek into Liam’s room and he is still fast asleep, now I wont have to explain why I wasn’t in bed with him. Walking past my bedroom reminds me of last night. What the hell happened? Bzzz. I hear my phone vibrating in the corner. I walk through the minefield of wood shards to see who it is. It’s Carly, what does she want? Can’t she take a hint. The text says “I really need to talk to you, please call me, I’m sorry.”She’s only sorry she got caught. “You’re up early” Liam startles me. I drop my phone.“Shit” I bend over to pick it up and the screen is cracked. “Sorry” he runs his fingers through his hair.

Chapter: Chapter 7
“What happened in here?” He asked a little too calmly. Why wasn’t he more surprised?I looked around the room and there are pieces of wood everywhere, I can’t figure out how it happened , but I’m certain I am responsible. This is the weirdest day I’ve ever had. A small part of me wants to get back in my car and drive home to the city. I miss my old life. What is happening to me? Did that stone table curse me or something? If I told him the truth about my arms glowing there’s no way he would believe me. I’m starting to think I’m having some kind of nervous breakdown. I miss Carly and wanted to tell her what just happened to me, she always understood and knew the perfect thing to say to make me feel better. Thinking of her floods me with emotions that I had buried for weeks. I bite my lip trying to stop my tears . How did I make the dresser explode? I remember feeling scared and my hands starting to glow, followed by the bang. I also stopped the wood shards from hitting me. B

Chapter: Chapter 6
“Those wolves, I think they wanted something from us. Do you think they needed our help?” I asked. One of them did lead me to that weird place. “Come on don’t worry about them, they will be fine.” He said pulling me forward. How does he know that? It doesn’t really matter because after what I just saw I don’t want to be out here in the dark longer than I already have been, so I let him lead the way hoping he knows where we are going. I hear a roar in the distance, that’s so loud the trees around us shake. “What was that?” I asked my voice trembling. “Don’t worry, it’s nothing that can hurt you. Probably just a bear.” he reassured me, but he also picked up the pace. The moon is now covered by clouds and I can’t see two feet infront of us. Im starting to wonder if we are even safe in that small cabin?Within minutes I see the light coming through the windows. The cabin was this close by, how did I get so turned around?“I feel like I walked a lot farther than this” I said

Now that I am out of sight I let the tears steam down my face. I tried so hard to get pregnant, all the ovulation tests, hormones and miscarriages. Endless doctors appointments, we tried so many different things and nothing ever worked.Luckily, the rain has lightened up a bit as I walk through the trees. As I wander I am unsure exactly where I am going. I guess I want to see that cliff Liam and I were headed to earlier. When I come to my senses, I think I’ve been walking for about ten minutes. Nothing looks familiar and I must have taken a wrong turn.I look around me and see nothing but trees, the cabin is nowhere in sight.Shit, where am I?I look down at my phone to see if I have service, I don’t. Great.I see there is and a text from my Carly that says:“Please don’t hate us and think of the baby. Chapter: Chapter 22
Garlic is worn around the neck as a protective charm. Hang garlic around your house to protect against the evil eye. Charles and I are in our way over to his parent's house for dinner. I’m so nervous, it feels like this are butterflies flying in my stomach. I have never been in a relationship serious enough to meet someone’s parents. The house his parents live in is beautiful and also quite big. It has blue paneling with a wrap around porch. His mother is waiting for us when we arrive on the porch. “You’re just in time; dinner will be ready in 5 minutes” she calls out to us. When we get inside the smell of garlic hits me. “Hello” I say holding out my hand. “Hello, you must be Paige. My name is Holly; it is so nice to finally meet you” she said holding her arms out for a hug. I hugged her and said “you have such a beautiful home” “Thank you, I designed it myself” she answers. “Charles’ dad is in a business call, but he should be joining us shortly.” “Come into the

Chapter: Chapter 21
During a drought you can ask the ferns to summon the rain. The next day I head into town to visit the Meaford public library to do some research. I drive through town, as usual, it doesn’t look like anything new has happened. The quiet town life is one of the reasons why my family stays here. The library is in the downtown core, which is usually filed with life. People are sitting on benches and walking their dogs. The restaurants are busy with people getting their coffees for work. I pull into the parking lot and head towards the old building. The large wood doors were hand carved, and I always appreciate their beauty. I look around the room filled with rows of many books; old and new. I am looking for the librarian, her name is Amelia, she had been a very close family friend for years. She is also a very powerful witch. Amelia has the power of telekinesis, which means she can move things with her mind. She should be able to show me newspaper articles that are not available

Crushing Clove enhances psychic abilities, sprinkle some over a crystal ball to help see the futureOn Sundays I usually spend the morning walking through the trees then the afternoon helping Evee at the bakery. I call Evee to let her know I will not be coming by this afternoon. She answers on the second ring.“Hello” Evee said. “Hey, I am going to stay home today” I tell her. “Oh, is Charles with you?” She asks. She sounded a little upset. “Yes, he is, he spent the night” I say. “Okay well have fun” she said then ends the call abruptly. I wonder if she is jealous. I poke my head in the bedroom and see Charles is still fast asleep. I head outside to see the aftermath from last night. The trees around my house have almost doubled in size. It’s amazing to see trees this large; they make me feel so insignificant. I try to undo my magic by calming my mind and try to bring the trees back to their original size but it won’t work. Strange, this is the first time I am not abl

To protect against thieves, hang rose Mary in your windows and doorways. We walk over to the beach, and we bring the kayaks down to the water. There’s a small storage box outside with paddles and life jackets inside. We buckle up our jackets and head into the water. It’s a calm evening, the water is crystal clear; our paddles are creating ripples in the water as we tread along. We stay close to the shore because it will be dark soon and the open water is no place to be in the dark. We paddle past a long mountain side with a small cavern. The cavern holds many of my families' ancient artifacts. I have never been there, but maybe one day. “I feel like meeting you has been a dream” Charles said. Looking at him I can see the last couple of days have been hard on him and he is handling it incredibly well considering. Charles catches me looking at him. “What are you thinking about?” he asks. I love when he asks me that. “I feel like I’ve known you my life” I say to him. R

Chapter: Chapter 18
Witches use dandelions to enhance psychic abilities. Dandelions are also great for creams to keep people looking youthful. I am making us bacon, eggs, and French toast for breakfast. I dip the bread in some eggs in batter with cinnamon and throw it in the frying pan. “So, what happened with your parents yesterday” I finally ask. I grab two plates and start adding the food. “They didn’t tell me much more than we already knew. I was adopted when I was 8 months old on December 15, 2001, because my parents died in a car accident. The adoption took place at an adoption agency close by.” He explains.“Anything else?” I ask.“That’s all they were able to tell me.” He said. I have a suspicion that they are leaving something out. It’s not a lot of information but I might be able to work with that date and see the deaths of people who had a small child in the area. “The local library in town keeps records of all the newspapers in the area. But the library isn’t open until Monday.”

People believe dill can protect against illness and hostile spirits. It can also balance the heart and mind. We head down the tunnel and I can tell Charles is curious by the crystals lighting up the walls. “They are magic crystals charged by the sun” I told him. He reached up to touch one and as soon as he touched the crystal it lights up brighter. We continued walking I can hear the dirt path crunching under our feet. “This could be the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen” he says as we enter the garden. I take my shoes off and start walking in the grass. I can see the bright moonlight up above. Tonight is a half-moon. We walk over to the storage shed with the dolly of boxes. The shed is very organized; curtesy of me. I have a shelf with drawers on the right side for ingredients. Everything is sorted by ingredient type. On the left side I have a shelf with boxes for all the crystals. It does not take us long to organize the new stuff my uncle brought. Once everything is pu

Chapter: Chapter 50
“I feel like you aren’t telling me everything” Tyler said during the car ride. He knew I was an awful liar. “I don’t have time to explain everything to you right now” I snapped and I didn’t want to anyways. “We have some time and you look like you need to get some things off your chest. Come on you know I’m here for you.”“If you thought I was crazy you before” I laughed, “you might thing I belong in a nut house now.”“No, I’ll believe you no matter how crazy it all sounds- I promise.” He sounded sincere. I started to tell him about my soul living forever and how I’d been around for over 500 years. I told him about all the lives I’d lived; even the one I where I was a hunter. Then I told him about how I screwed things up with both Ben and Rod; which in some weird way was the most painful part. “Tyler I was responsible for building the hunter army that is hurting all those witches.”“Clara you know that wasn’t your fault right?”“That’s where you’re wrong. I’m back outside my bunkie, oh how I missed this place and the days where all I had to worry about was lightning forests on fire. I turn around and the shed hasn’t been burnt down yet. It worked and the crystal is gone just like the dragon told us. Even though I am not in any immediate danger I want to talk to my mother as soon as I can. I call her cell phone- no answer, we were going to have a serious talk about this. On the bright side, now I had an idea of where to look for her. But I needed help, going alone would be too dangerous and I only had once chance at this. Now that I know how to teleport I travel to the cabin where Ben’s staying, this is going to come in handy. I spot his motorcycle and the small fire truck out front; good he’s here. I run up to the door and knock hard. “Hello” he opened the door. Once he saw who I was there was a flicker of disbelief. They say you have one second to see someone’s true reaction on their face and I know he recognizes me. “B

I remember the kings voice warning me “not all the lives are good.” Like he knew all along, but didn’t want to tell me. I turn towards him and he has a shameful look on his face “why didn’t you warn me.”“Somethings you have to find out on your own Clara” he sad sadly. I had one life left to remember and it was the worst one I’d ever lived; it also happened to be my last life. I was a hunter and not just one of them, their leader. I’m so ashamed I once fell to dark magic and even worse - Damien was my lover. I had helped him slaughter so many witches. Or more like he had helped me. Tears came to my eyes, I was the reason they were so strong. Damien was in a different body which explains why I didn’t recognize him before. His soul was too evil, I had blocked him out. It was my idea to create the ritual with the elemental powers. All of this was my fault. The evil I created got my mother and Hope killed. A small part of me missed the feeling of being so powerful from stealing

Why should I make a deal with you when I can just melt you and take the crystal once you’re dead” I yelled.“Because before you kill me I can take down at least one of your friends, I suspect you don’t want that. Plus I have something to offer you” he pleaded. “How do I know you won’t betray me like everyone else” I screamed. “Clara, your anger is not with him, he is but a protector” the king whispers to me. “We can’t trust him. He did eat me.” The last time the king and I were looking for the crystal it was for our own personal gain. “His job is to protect this magic at all costs. This crystal in the wrong hands could destroy the world- you know that.”“Listen to the old man” the dragon hissed. King Salazar was a wise man, I’d learnt many lives ago to trust him. “What can you offer me?” I pushed the magma back into the earth, I’d spare him for now. “I will give you one of my scales, they are indestructible and can be used to create potions you’ve never heard of” he of

“Thank you for freeing us” they spoke, “too long were we under control by that horrendous demon, watching all those poor people being murdered.”Have they been trapped here all these years? It must have been hundreds of years since the king and I had been here last. “We are glad to help, would you mind pointing us in the direction of a safe camp?” the king asked. “Please stay the night here. We will keep you safe, our magic is strong. It’s why the demon consumed us.” The trees creaked around us but they did not move. “Thank you, then it is settled we will make camp here for the night ” the king takes off his backpack pulling out a small tent. It doesn’t take us long to set up camp with our small sleep tents. I start a fire for us, the trees groan at the smoke. If I didn’t know any better it seemed like they wanted me to put the fire out. “Don’t worry, I won’t let it burn you” I whispered. The trees seemed to calm with my reassurance. The king and Tyler join me around th

The next morning I wake before dawn just like we planned. I grab the survival pack I assume one of the servants left for me at my door and sneak out of the palace. I find Tyler and the king waiting for me at our agreed upon location just outside the city. The king’s absence would only upset his people so he had a few trusted soldiers covering for him. I didn’t say goodbye to either Rod or Ben, they were both furious with me. Good thing I was probably going to die and would never have to face either of them again. “Where’s Rod?” Tyler asked. “He’s not coming” I shot him a glance and he knew not to ask why.“Are we ready then?” King Salazar asked, “I don’t want to be gone from my people for long.”Tyler and I nodded. I was grateful he was coming at all. The king downs a potion and his tail is replaced with two human legs. “I was wondering how you were going to walk up a mountain” Tyler said. We all hold hands and I picture the bottom of the Appalachian mountain. There’s
