The Luna's Blood Moon: She Refused To Bow

The Luna's Blood Moon: She Refused To Bow

Menodora Moonbane…born under the curse of the Blood Moon, the same one prophesied to bring chaos to the world of werewolves. She is branded a curse even before she takes her first breath, spending her life hiding from those who feared her very existence. And then, the cruelty of fate happens…while escaping from a wrongful execution, she crosses paths with Orvax Ragnor, the Rogue Alpha King. Orvax never wanted to be tied to the shackles of fated mates, enough to walk away from his destined throne and the tyranny of his father. Yet in the moment he lays his eyes on Menodora, a desire so undeniable awakens in him. For reasons he cannot explain, he is willing to go to any length to save this one marked by the poison of an ancient prophecy. As the Blood Moon starts to rise once again and secrets begin to see the light of day, Dora discovers that the prophecy is never what it seems. The greatest threat to the werewolf world may not be her, but the secrets the council has fought years to keep hidden. With kingdoms on the verge of war, betrayal lurking in every word and the shadow of a bond neither of them can seem to escape, Menodora and Orvax must decide: Will they give in to their desires before it consumes… Or would they destroy it even if it kills them?

Chapter: CHAPTER 72: WHERE NO ONE SEES II
ORAVX'S POVMenodora raises her brows when I sit and I realize it doesn't escape her attention that I am not sitting close to her but a few inches away.“Does everyone always expect that you know what to do in every situation," she asks, leaning back on her hands."Most of the time.” I don't know where this is going but I reply to her anyway."And do you always have the answers?" “Truthfully, I don't know what to do more than half the time…but fear of letting down those who trusted me enough to defy my father keeps me going.”Her jaw goes slack and her lips part, forgetting how to form words. I guess she wasn't expecting me to be so honest with her, but really, what's there to hide?“That's the problem with being an Alpha," I continued, eyes turned towards the city. Beside me, Menodora listens, hanging on to my every word. “People often assume that strength means certainty and that if you're strong enough, then it means you have answers to everything." "And when you don't have these

Chapter: CHAPTER 71: WHERE NO ONE SEES I
ORVAX'S POVThe Keeper is still talking but I can see that Menodora is no longer listening. She has a blank expression on her face, like her thoughts have locked the door and pulled the blinds. Every word the Keeper speaks feels like another boulder placed on her shoulder and I watch in horror as she curls into herself even more…almost like she is trying to disappear without us noticing.“Child of the Blood Moon…restorer…the chosen one…daughter of the last guardians…” the Keeper's words drone on and on and I struggle hard to tune her out, choosing instead to focus on Menodora. Her parents had known secrets that she had spent her entire life bleeding for…her mother had died…a death she had blamed herself for…protecting a promise. Her father…the heavens know where he is…had disappeared carrying the weight of a promise no one else knew about. And like that wasn't enough, an entire kingdom is looking up to her as though she is the answer to every question they ever had…what overwhelming r

Chapter: CHAPTER 70: THE HISTORY THEY SOUGHT TO KEEP BURIED II
MENODORA'S POVI watch as the warmth vanishes from the Keeper’s eyes, leaving them as flat and cold as winter glass. The ghost of a smile that had previously touched her lips is now flattened into a thin, bloodless scar of a mouth. “When did it all change you ask. Maybe it was when the most powerful of Alpha bloodlines realized that a single child chosen by the Moon could undo everything they had worked so hard to build.”Silence rings in the air again as Orvax and I listen with held breaths.“They knew killing the Moon goddess’ blessing was out of the question, so they did something far more sinister…they chose to kill the truth instead.”“They changed the stories," Cassian whispers quietly and the Keeper nods once, encouraging him to continue.“For many generations, they taught their children that the Blood Moon was a symbol of destruction. They went after and destroyed every account that spoke of restoration," Cassian continues, his voice getting louder with the encouragement of t

Chapter: CHAPTER 69: THE HISTORY THEY SOUGHT TO KEEP BURIED I
MENODORA'S POV The silence in the Chambers stretched for several minutes…in this enclosure, it felt more like hours than mere minutes. I could hear my heart hammering against my ribcage threatening to tear through my chest. My eyes remain fixed on the mural and it feels as if I am transported to a world beyond the one I am in at the moment. I gaze longingly at the child in the woman's arms, suddenly missing the warmth of my mother. The crimson moon catches my interest and I notice for the first time that instead of the shade of red I originally thought it is, it's a shade of fiery orange-red…like the sun at its brightest. The wolves surrounding the infant are stark white, a sharp contrast compared to the moon. They surround the child, not as a predator circling its prey but as guardians of the moon spirit.“n ms.n.tw.s r srḫt tꜣ, ḥnꜥ r rḏi.t n tꜣ pꜣ kꜣ.n.sn r krs.t.f." The words at the bottom of the mural leaped at me and although I have no knowledge of ancient languages, for some r

Chapter: CHAPTER 68: KEEPER OF FORGOTTEN NAMES II
MENODORA'S POV I feel a low thrum consistently vibrating through the cobblestones, like little purrings of a big cat at rest. The rest of the city is covered in heavy mist that smells like wet earth, copper and the sweetness of pine. The city seems to come alive all around us. As we trail closely behind the Keeper through broad stone streets, I find myself noticing little details that I had missed upon arrival. I see children peeking out from behind carved stone pillars before being hurried away by their flustered parents who look at us with a mix of awe and fear in their eyes. Shopkeepers stop mid-conversation to stare at us and I hear doors and windows open as curious faces peek out to feast their eyes on us. All around us, whispers abound and without even having to strain too much, I can comfortably make out a few hushed words. “Is that really the child? The one that the prophecy talked about?” “She looks so young” "Do you think she knows?” “I thought the prophecy said she w

Chapter: CHAPTER 67: KEEPER OF FORGOTTEN NAMES I
MENODORA'S POV The first thing that gets to me is the pause that hangs heavy and jagged in the air, a frozen stretch of time waiting for someone to shatter it. It is not the kind of silence that comes from a lack of sound, but rather a silence that carries with it a heavy weight. The entire square has fallen into a still that makes even the wind feel like it is disturbing whatever has just happened.A large expanse of people, as far as my eyes can see, are still on one knee before me…old men with their shoulder length silver hairs, young women clutching their children to their chests, hunters who are still carrying with their their bows from the day’s hunt, even blacksmiths with the soot still staining their hands. Every single one of them had their heads bowed.A sudden frantic vibration hums at the base of my throat, betraying the calm facade I am fighting so hard to keep.“What's…what's going on? What are they doing?”No one answers and this quickens my pulse even more. My eyes ar
