Chapter: Chapter Forty Six
“I asked you a question, Crystal,” Logan gritted his teeth.Shaking her head, Crystal took a step back from the painting and let out a hollow laugh, “I just realized something. Crystal? I thought I was snowflake.”Logan’s glare intensified, “That still doesn’t answer my question.”Crystal rolled her eyes and turned to Isabella, “So I guess I was wrong and you are innocent,” she spat."Wrong or not, it doesn't change the fact that I had nothing to do with whatever mess you've found yourself in," Isabella finally spoke, her voice calm but tinged with an undercurrent of irritation.Crystal's frustration flared, her eyes narrowing as she retorted, “Logan might have gotten you out but I know what I saw and I have evidence. There are also witnesses that saw you enter Ryke’s mansion.”Isabella chuckled darkly, a bitter edge to the sound. "Evidence can be deceiving, and witnesses can be manipulated. You should know that, Crystal."Crystal shook her head in disbelief. "I trusted you, Isabella

Chapter: Chapter Forty Five
Crystal stepped into the sterile, echoing confines of the visiting room at the correctional facility. Her breath caught as she caught sight of Isabella, sitting calmly, seemingly indifferent to the world around her. Crystal's heart pounded against her chest as she approached the table, her emotions in turmoil, her hands trembling with a mix of apprehension and longing for answers."Isabella," Crystal's voice quivered slightly as she took a seat across from her former best friend. Isabella lifted her gaze casually, her expression unreadable. Crystal's eyes searched Isabella's face, seeking any hint of remorse, of the friendship they once shared, but found nothing."I'm surprised you came," Isabella remarked casually, her tone devoid of emotion. "I had to," Crystal replied, her voice breaking slightly. "I need to understand, Bels. Why? Why did you do it?"Isabella leaned back in her chair, a faint smirk playing at the corners of her lips. "I have no idea what you're talking about," she

Chapter: Chapter Forty Four
Chloe slowly fluttered her eyes open, the hazy blur of the hospital room coming into focus. The sterile scent, the faint hum of machines, all too familiar yet always disconcerting. As her vision cleared, she caught sight of Christian, his relief evident as their eyes met.A faint smile tugged at Christian's lips, but Chloe could see the underlying worry etched in the lines of his face, his attempt at humor failing to mask his concern. "Hey there, sleeping beauty," he quipped, a weak attempt to lighten the weight of the moment. "Is this becoming our thing now? Almost getting killed and ending up in the hospital?”Chloe managed a small, tired chuckle, but the gravity of their situation weighed heavily upon her. "Seems like it," she murmured, her voice hoarse from the ordeal. "But I wouldn't mind a change of pace anytime soon."Their banter masked the underlying tension that lingered in the air. Chloe's gaze softened as she reached out, her fingers lightly brushing against Christian's ha

Chapter: Chapter Forty Three
The cacophony of voices echoed around him, distant yet somehow piercing. He found himself standing in the hazy periphery of a scene, a memory from his childhood that remained etched in his subconscious—the day he overheard his parents arguing.Their voices, once muffled whispers, now reverberated sharply through the walls, a symphony of discord that shook the very foundation of his understanding. Logan crept closer to the partially ajar door of his father’s study, drawn by the urgency in his parents' voices. He lingered, unseen, on the periphery of their heated exchange."I can't believe you're bringing this up again!" Jessica’s voice was filled with a mixture of anguish and exasperation."Jessica, he deserves to know," his father's voice replied, the weight of responsibility tinged with a hint of sorrow.Their words were like shards of glass, piercing Logan's sheltered world, fragmenting the illusion of his reality. He stood frozen, unseen, as the truth unfolded in the exchange bet

Chapter: Chapter Forty Two
Logan's sleek black sedan pulled up outside the police station. Stepping out, his demeanor was one of controlled urgency, every stride purposeful as he approached the entrance.Approaching the front desk, he spoke with a tone that demanded attention. "I need to speak with someone in charge regarding the arrest of Isabella Montez."The officer behind the desk regarded Logan with a hint of skepticism, his uniform crisply pressed as he sized up the affluent newcomer. "I'm sorry, sir. I can't provide details about ongoing cases."Logan's frustration simmered beneath his controlled demeanor. "I understand, but Ms. Montez's arrest is a mistake. I need to rectify this immediately."The officer glanced at his computer screen before meeting Logan's gaze. "I'll see if someone can speak with you, sir. Please wait here."Minutes dragged like hours as Logan paced the station's lobby, his mind racing with a myriad of scenarios and strategies to make Isabella's release. Finally, a stern-looking de

Chapter: Chapter One Hundred and Thirty Five: That Took a Turn
~Amber’s POV~…I walked away.Again with me about to ask a question even though no answer would come. That wasn’t the reaction anyone would have expected right? I should have stormed in there, confronted him and that bitch right then and there but instead my hands had retracted, I had taken a step back and with a forced smile at Rosella, not saying another word, I had walked away and kept walking, my mind completely numb from everything.I couldn’t even think because I couldn’t comprehend it.It was simply… I just couldn’t. It was only when my legs finally registered how far I had gone that I hailed a cab back to the Palace. With that same numbness, I had gone straight to the room he was staying in because maybe, just maybe, being around his scent would build some comprehension of how he could do something like this. But the universe couldn’t just make it easy for me.Because the moment I stepped into the room, the moment his scent hit me, something else hit me with the same force.

Chapter: Chapter One Hundred and Thirty Four: Banished
~Axel’s POV~I had learned at a very early stage that anger was one of the things I had to get control of because it was the worst of my emotions. As horrible as it was, it being unleashed for the first time when I was nineteen which was also when the fear my father had instilled in me both emotionally and physically had eased up for the first time, with him being the recipient of the anger. For one moment I had stopped being the one on the receiving end of everything he dished out and something in that had shifted something in me permanently. Not for the better necessarily. But it had shifted. But that didn’t change the fact that I either controlled it or it would control me making making me do horrible unforgettable things so I had learned. It had not been easy and it had not been quick but I had learned. It wasn’t like I didn’t get angry. There was more than enough evidence to state otherwise. My never ending war with my father that had been running since I was old enough to unde

Chapter: Chapter One Hundred and Thirty Three: Two Kinds of Destruction
~Amber’s POV~“What in the actual hell of all things unbiblical?”That was not the exact way I would have put it but the horror, shock and everything sitting between those two things in Rosella’s voice was precisely what I was feeling.I should have looked away. But I couldn’t. I couldn’t blink away from what I was currently looking at. The Silvercrest Pack grounds stretched out in front of us and every single member was on the ground. All of them.Men, women, children, every single one of them lying completely still and lifeless. Their skin was completely pale and they looked shrunk into themselves somehow as though whatever had kept them full, present and alive had simply been removed, cleanly and completely, leaving only the shape of what they had been behind. There were no visible wounds. No blood. No sign of a fight or a struggle.Just hundreds of wolves, lying on the ground of their own pack, utterly and completely emptied. In much more simpler terms, dead. From life being suc

Chapter: Chapter One Hundred and Thirty Two: The Plan
~Axel’s POV~“If I wasn’t so drop dead gorgeous myself, I would have thought it unfair that people like you existed.”The raspy voice met me the moment I stepped back into my office and my eyes immediately narrowed with irritation, finding Demi’s turned up lips before anything else in the room.My lips parted but she beat me to the exact question I was about to ask.“Please don’t be so cliché to ask how I got in here.” She drawled. “You are way too hot for that. And if you must know, that’s a door. I walked through it.”“Then walk right back through it and get out of my office.” I deadpanned moving past her to take my seat. She chose that moment to lower herself into the seat opposite me, crossing her legs with the deliberate slowness of someone making a point entirely through movement. For a very brief second my eyes registered it before they came back to her smiling face, the kind of smile that anyone stupid enough would let their guard down for if it was ever directed at them.“

Chapter: Chapter One Hundred and Thirty One: And So It Begins...
~Amber’s POV~It felt… anticlimactic. Right?Again with me pushing questions at no one in particular when I knew I would not be getting answers, because I genuinely had no idea who I was even asking and the ceiling of this restaurant was not about to start talking back to me.“Amber.” The fingers snapping in front of my face pulled me back and I blinked at Rosella meeting the frown that had been sitting on her face for the better part of this lunch. My mouth opened to apologize, which would have been the fourth time, but she got there before I could.“Why would you agree to have lunch if you were just going to spend the whole time staring into space?”“I know, I know. I’m sorry.” The same words I had said the last three times and from the look I received in return I could see she had reached the absolute limit of how many times she was willing to accept them.I closed my eyes, ran my hand through my hair and tried to find a way to explain the thing I had been trying to explain to my

Chapter: Chapter One Hundred and Thirty: Too Easy
~Amber’s POV~I let the shock that immediately turned to irritation mixed with anger stay on his face for exactly three seconds before the grin I could not contain anymore spread across mine.“I’m joking. I’m joking.”The anger faded into just irritation and that alone made the grin slip. “Okay. Okay. I’m sorry. I will behave myself from now on, I promise.”Silence followed and for a moment the two of us just stared at each other while he gently rocked Asher since I supposed we were calling him Asher and then the question that had been sitting at the back of my throat since he walked in took root properly and I had no choice but to voice it.“How are you so sure he is yours?” My voice came out quieter than I intended. “I mean, he is. You are the only person I have ever been with and it was the night that started all of this but…”I trailed off not entirely sure how to finish that sentence.“I might not be as good with numbers as you but I do know how to calculate.” He said it evenly.
