A Shade of Violet
Violet Harris never imagined her life would become a headline. As the daughter of a prominent CEO, she’s used to the shadows, quietly juggling her dreams and a part-time job. But when her father arranges her marriage to Anthony Daniels, the enigmatic heir to the Daniels Group, her carefully curated world unravels.
Anthony Daniels is everything Violet detests: privileged, cold, and a man who makes it clear that love has no place in their union. Yet as Violet steps reluctantly into his world of power and prestige, she begins to see cracks in his icy exterior. Small moments of vulnerability hint at something deeper, leaving her torn between resentment and curiosity.
Their uneasy alliance takes a turn when long-buried secrets emerge, revealing the true motives behind their marriage. Betrayed by those she trusted most, Violet must decide whether to walk away from Anthony or confront the growing feelings she’s desperate to ignore.
As power, pride, and passion collide, Violet and Anthony discover that the strongest bonds are forged in the unlikeliest of places. Will they rise above the sins of their families, or will their love remain a fleeting shade of what could have been?
A Shade of Violet is a sweeping tale of heartbreak, redemption, and love blooming in the face of adversity.

Chapter: 10I look at the girl in shock, moving from her to Anthony and back to her again. Had I completely misread the entire situation? No, that's not possible. "That is a likely story," I begin, "I'm sure you're saying that just so I don't get mad at him for having a lover. Rest assured, you can have him."I feel Anthony's stare on me as Jaiden looks at me as though I gre an extra set of arms."Lover?" She asks incredulously, "First of all, you think I'd want to sleep with him? Ew, absoluetely not, he's not my type. Second, I am telling you the truth. Here, I have some family pictures from when we were kids."She starts to tap away on her phone and I try not to look at Anthony, whose icy attitude had returned."This," She shows me her phone, "Was my first day of elementary school. Anthony walked me to my classroom so I wouldn't be scared. And this is the time when we went North for Christmas in my preteen years, he had given me a stocking full of roached. I should beat you right now for that.

Chapter: 9I roll my eyes at his tone, "Don't play games here, just leave."He stares at me with his eyebrows knit together, almost seeming to be confused. I don't have the patience for his confusion."Look," I start quietly, "I'm fine with you sleeping around. Whatever makes you happy. Just make sure the tabloids don't get wind of it."Anthony chortles and takes a seat on my bed, "Where are you getting these ideas? And you are most definitely not fine with me sleeping around, which I am not, by the way."I give him a sour look, deciding after a moment to close the door in case things get heated."Then do you gift necklaces to any girl who clings to your arm?" I ask as I lean against the back of the door, my arms finding themselves in a comfortable crossed position."Why?" He smiles cheekily, "Do you want a necklace?"I roll my eyes, "Be for real, I don't want anything from you.""And yet," He stands, "You're jealous that I'm giving another woman my attention.""I am not jealous. Just...hurt. Ev

Chapter: 8The voices grow louder as they walk further into the front entryway and my temper is at an all time high as I stand, closing the door as gently as possible. The urge to slam it was strong but I didn't want to cause a scene. I'm not that kind of person, as I'm sure Anthony knows."Why did you close the door?" Hestia asks."Because he's home." I seethe, taking a seat at my vanity to do breathing exercises to calm my racing heart."But," I see her eyebrows furrow in the mirror, "You're married, don't you want to see him?"I scoff, almost laughing, "I'm sorry but I'd rather not be reminded that I am married to that cheater."Hestia stands, her hand going to her chest in shock, "Cheater? What do you mean?"I look at her with a confused expression, "Did you not see a woman attached to his arm at the mall? He even brought her back here! What kind of decent person brings their mistriss home when their wife is still there? Disgusting."Hestia

Chapter: 7I stand frozen as the girl speaks some more about him getting her a dress for the gala. What gala? Why wasn't I aware of a gala? What is she talking about?Anthony's laugh tickles a part of my brain that makes me long to hear it gestured toward me but I shake the thought away, instead turning back to Hestia."I think I want to go home." I say, trying to keep my voice steady.Hestia nods, "I agree, I think it is time your room gets a make over."I give her a tight smile, "It definitely needs it. Let's go back the way we came."I gesture my head back to where Anthony and the woman are still standing, hoping that my small act seemed innocent enough to where it looks like I don't know he is behind me. Hestia nods and picks up my bag for me, leading the way with a smile on her face.We don't get very far until she notices Anthony and stops in her tracks, "Anthony, I didn't expect to see you out today."I keep my eyes forward and avo

Chapter: 6My breathing stops immediately as I realize that there is nothing for me to grab to help stop myself from falling. The initial shock didn’t have as big of an impact on me as the freezing cold water did. The pool enveloped me and I started to sink, deeper and deeper, making my attempts of trying to gain traction much more difficult. I didn’t know how to swim. I was never near water so there was not a reason to get trained. The chlorine burned my eyes as I looked up at the slowly disappearing light from atop the balcony. I didn’t know pools could be this deep and my arms are starting to feel tired from flailing around. My lungs feel as though they are being tortured by my desperate attempts to take in air from the water as though I were a fish. I thought that I saw movement from the surface but my vision started spotting so it must have been that. How deep was this pool? What did it matter, I'm going to die in it. I'm going to die without knowing what it feels like to be loved. Suddenly

Chapter: 5I stand up and I can barely contain my rage, “I’m sorry. Repeat yourself.”Anthony raises an eyebrow and holds up a hand, “It’s just a job, Violet. You no longer need it. I did you a favor by-”“You,” I cut him off as I take slow steps toward him, “Didn’t do shit for me. You have basically ruined everything that I worked so hard to keep. I didn’t want to get married, much less to a rich prick like you. I didn’t want to leave my home. I didn’t want to leave my job. I left everything I loved because of you. I hate you.”I can feel the tears in my eyes spill over in my rage and I was close enough now to jab a finger into his chest with every sentence. “Violet,” Anthony starts, holding his chest in shock, “Look, it may not be ideal but you are in a situation where you can have anything that you want. I can give you everything. And you didn’t even have to ask for it!”“Exactly!” I yell, “I didn’t ask for it and that is what I hate. People shoving free things at me, thinking it’s what I wa
