DOMINIC
Dante stared at the flurry of humans congregating around the construction of the cabins, his gaze hardening.
“You can’t live beside them, can you?”
I shook my head, crossing my arms.
“You know I can’t, Dante.”
This was killing me.
Asking Dante for help. But there was no other choice.
“If the pack doesn’t acclimatize to them, they’ll be exposed and potentially killed. I can’t, Dante. I can’t coexist like this.”
“So you thought you’d ask me to forgive you and becoming your fucking beta?” Dante spat, his eyes wild with fury. “To keep the pack safe, huh? Since when have you ever put the pack before yourself, Dominic?”
“You don’t have to forgive me,” I said with sincerity. “But I’m too…”
Dante waited for me to finish the sentence, his chest heaving with every breath he took.
