Something told me she was near.

I was gazing at Axel, who was remarkably calm considering how long he’d been in the pit.

“You look like shit,” I chirped, earning myself a scowl.

“I would’ve made an effort, but there’s no fucking facilities in the hole you stuck me in,” Axel snapped back, his eyes scanning mine. “I hear you’re no longer our Alpha,” he sneered.

“No, I’m not,” I confirmed, steepling my fingers together.

Axel had lost weight, but three weeks in the pit would do that to a wolf.

“Good. You were the worst Alpha I’d ever seen,” Axel said with a manic grin. “So it’s true. Dante has returned.”

“He will deal with you how he sees fit,” I said with a shrug, shuffling through the paperwork on my desk. “You’re not my problem now, Axel.”
