AMBER
I hovered by the bedroom window, staring over at the man with the golden eyes, the one from the city.
Dominic.
My stomach leapt when he scowled at someone I couldn’t see, shaking his head. His face twisted into a snarl as he pointed a finger at whoever he was talking to, the veins in his neck pulsing. He was wearing nothing but a pair of shorts, and I couldn’t help but lust over his broad body, covered with tattoos.
Dante’s brother.
“Luna?” A voice came from the doorway, a thin, pale woman smiling at me from behind a pile of clothes. “We think these may fit you if you want to try them on. Alpha said to ask if you want anything to eat?”
She placed the clothes on the bed beside me, and I shook my head.
“No, thank you. What’s your name?”
“Eliza, my Luna.”
“Eliza, call me Amber,” I said softly, fingering the fabrics of the
DanteHelen was asleep on the sofa when I got back, so I left her there, heading for Amber’s room. The moonlight that spilt through the window highlighted Ambers sleeping form, her fire-red hair fanning around her like a halo. I sighed, watching her sleep for a moment. She’s given up everything for us. My wolf reminded me, content from his run with the pack.I showered before climbing into bed beside her, tugging her into my arms as she whined softly in her sleep.“I missed you,” Amber murmured, burying her head into my neck. Her hand swept down my torso, sending shivers down my spine.“Yeah? How much?” I grinned, pulling her on top of me.Amber crossed her arms over her body, lifting her silky shirt over her head, revealing her pert breasts and smooth skin.“So much.”Amber lifted her hips, and I swept her underwear to the side, easing myself inside her wi
DANTE“We have a problem, Alpha,” Delta Greg said grimly, glancing around the table at the other members of the council.“What sort of problem?”I sank into my chair, noticing Dominic staring into space beside me. He looked thinner than usual and disinterested in the conversation, his fingers stroking his stubbly jawline idly.“A pack of wolves are attacking humans,” Vex said with a grimace.“Attacking them how?” I frowned.“Well,” Vex placed a map on the table, using a bright red pen to highlight the areas. “The first kidnapping was here. A young girl, seventeen years old, went missing after cheerleading practice.”The pen squeaked as he drew an X in Los Angeles, California.“Right, that’s not our territory,” I pointed out as Vex sighed, moving his pen north.“They took another one from herbedroomin Portl
I watched in fascination as the warriors trained—not just men, the women too. The women in the pack were fearless, their strength matching their male opponents of not exceeding it at times. One, in particular, fought with such passion; I wondered if she genuinely hated the man in front of her.The man with the golden eyes.Dominic.I’d be lying if I said my eyes didn’t return to him every five seconds, watching the way his arms wrapped around the woman’s waist or the way he laughed when she screamed with frustration, attempting to throw him over to no avail.“Who’s the woman?” I asked Helen who’d become a good friend to me. Dante was meeting with another Alpha in the packhouse, and he’d asked me if I wanted to watch the warriors’ training.“Huh? Which woman?” Helen gazed at me, curiously.“The one with Dominic.”Saying his name set my i
AMBERThe woman at my feet was no longer a wolf.Dante stumbled back, his eyes moving to mine as he held his hand out.“Come, Amber,” he whispered, his fingers wrapping around mine. “You too.”I looked up in surprise to see Dominic nodding, rubbing his forehead with his hand.“There’s nothing to see here. Sasha was going to kill your Luna.” Dante declared, scanning the faces around us.“Yes, Alpha.”Sasha was dead?Dominic is my mate?I’m so confused.Dante strode down the dirt path that took us down to the pack house, firmly gripping my hand.Dominic followed me, and when I turned to look at him, I saw no remorse in his eyes.Dante released me once we were inside, Dominic locking the door behind him.I swallowed, slumping into a chair as Dante pushed some whiskey into my hand.“Drink it, baby.&
DOMINICI can’t stand stupidity, and regardless of anything else, that is exactly how my brother is behaving. He has the mind link- did he not hear the murderous thoughts in Sasha’s mind?I didn’t even think twice, and Dante hadn’t moved a muscle.Fucking Dante.I was borderline starting to lose my tolerance for these fuckers; the lot of them frustrated me.So I was at the lake, trying to find calm. That wasn’t hap
DOMINIC“Anything, Dominic.”I fought the urge to yawn, instead nodding at my brother, who was beside himself.“If anything happens I will let you know.” I duly repeated, gazing past him at Amber who was flicking through a magazine.“She will be safe, you know this.”Dante exhaled, turning back to Amber.“I’m trusting you, but it’s only because it benefits her. Remember what I said.”
DANTEI couldn’t concentrate. Was it any fucking surprise? My brother was alone with Amber, and I was miles away on fucking business.Alpha Francis was addressing the room, a room filled with Alphas from all over the country, all gunning for the fuckers that stole the Betas mate.“There’s been another kidnapping.” Francis scanned the room, his eyes coal black. “This time, she wasn’t human. It was a she-wolf.”My head snapped up, and I stared in disbelief as Alpha Warren spoke up from across me.
DANTEI dropped my jacket on the sofa, my head twisting in the direction of our room.It had been a long journey back, but I hadn’t wanted to be away from Amber a second longer than I’d needed to.As I neared the room, I detected Dominic’s scent, and I paused, bracing myself for what I knew lay behind the door.My darling Amber was human, and she was Dominic’s true mate.I swallowed, knowing that once I saw her with him, I’d know if I could tolerate his hands on her.
