Chapter 7

"There, that's better." Ashton nodded his head when he saw Maya look at him.

"Can you now repeat what you said to me on the balcony?" He asked. His voice was gentle and soothing to the ears. It made Maya's erratic emotions calm down.

"I said a lot of crap, what are you referring to exactly?" Maya questioned. She felt that this alpha had a strange personality.

"The first statement you made."

"The first statement I made?"

'Wait, wasn't the first statement I made the one asking him if he needed a Luna? Does he want me to repeat so that he can reject me again?' Maya thought.

She never thought that this man would be so mean.

"Have you forgotten? Should I help you refresh your mind?"

"No. Of course not. I remember what I said. But didn't you say that you were not the one who saved me? Why would I say it again?"

"I will only offer myself to the one who saved me," Maya said.

"Do you know in whose room you are now?"

"Yours."

"Right, it's my room. Who do you think dares to bring a stranger into the alpha's room and even summon the best healers of the pack?"

"Only the alpha!" Maya said.

"But why did you lie to me?" Maya questioned.

"I didn't. I was just teasing you." Ashton said like it was only normal to tease a beautiful girl.

"Do you don't have a mate?" Maya asked. The more she thought about it, the more she felt like something was not right.

How old was Ashton? He seemed to be in his late twenties and he was telling her that he didn't have a mate.

He was an alpha, a very powerful alpha.

But again the information she overheard couldn't be wrong.

So which is which?

"Didn't you hear everything? Why don't you offer yourself to me? I promise that I will only treat you better."

"Well…." Maya hesitated. She didn't know what had overcome her earlier to even utter such words.

Could Luna be a nobody like her? What if he ended up abandoning her as Mark did?

"I Will take that as a yes," Ashton said as he immediately drew her into his embrace.

He had wanted to do it the moment he stepped foot in the room but he did not want to scare her.

"Wait, did I agree to that?" Maya asked, confused. She was being hugged so tightly, I felt like he was trying to squeeze the life out of her.

"You are my mate whether you like it or not. You have no idea how long I have been waiting for you." Ashton said in a raspy voice. He was trying hard to suppress his surging emotions.

"Just like that?"

"Yes, just like that princess."

"Now go back to sleep. I will come to wake you up when dinner is ready." Ashton said.

He used some special abilities to massage her and before she knew it, she had already drifted into a deep slumber.

Ashton left the room. His steps were light and his mood was bright. No one could be able to comprehend how happy he was, but only he knew.

Finally, finally!

Maya slept until it was dinner time.

When Ashton came to get her, she felt like she was dreaming.

She tried recalling everything that had transpired and the more she thought about it, the more she felt like it was just a mere dream.

Why would such a powerful alpha take her, a jinx, to be his luna?

Maybe Maya didn't understand the importance of a mate bond but she will, later on.

"What are you pacing out for?" Ashton asked when he saw that Maya was walking absentmindedly.

"I just feel that this dream is surreal," Maya said.

"You still think that you are dreaming?" Ashton asked.

He then moved closer and planted a kiss on Maya's lips. Spark seemed to fly everywhere at the touch of their lips and Maya was momentarily stunned.

That…. was a feeling she never experienced before.

When she was with Mark, kissing only felt normal. Her body did not feel as excited as it was right now.

And that was not even a real kiss, it was just their lips touching.

"Let's go have dinner. This is not a dream, okay?" Ashton said.

Maya nodded her head.

"I will explain everything to you after dinner."

After dinner, Maya followed Ashton to his study room.

They were modern days werewolves. They did not live in the wild like wild animals.

They lived like normal humans and unless they transformed, no one will tell them apart from the humans.

They build empires and had businesses just like normal people.

Maya was directed to sit down on the sofa.

It felt like it was made from wolf skin. It was soft and smooth and comfortable to sit on.

Ashton had a huge desk. Papers and books were arranged neatly on the desk while behind the desk stood a tall bookshelf.

After scheming her eyes over, Maya could tell that most of the books were about werewolves.

"Don't you remember anything when you were young?" Ashton asked.

"Nope. Why would you ask?"

"I'm just interested in knowing you better!"

"Wait, how did you know I couldn't remember anything?"

"When I saw you being thrown in the lake, I felt my heart break that's why I saved you and since I didn't know you at that time, I asked Theo to do a background check on you," Ashton revealed. He did not hide anything from her.

"Ooh, I see."

"According to the person who saved me, he found me standing in the woods alone, with only a paper containing my name. I didn't know where I came from and I couldn't even speak."

"After being taken to a specialist, they said that it was due to the trauma I suffered when I was young but I couldn't remember anything."

"They even thought that I was a trap sent by the enemy, but as years went by and nothing happened, they let down their guard around me," Maya said.

"Do you want to remember your childhood memories?"

"Can you make that happen?" Maya asked.

"Although I feel like I have gotten used to living without them, it's not bad to know where I came from."

"Okay, don't worry I will help you remember everything."

….

A few days passed by since Maya disappeared from the wind winders pack.

According to the pack's intelligence team, her scent stopped at the lake shore and everything after that is a blur.

Mark did not believe even for a second that Maya would commit suicide by jumping into the lake.

Maya was an easygoing person. Although she has lived a hard life for the five years he was not around, she had not given up.

What happened this time? Why would she go missing on such an important day?

Mark had a lot of questions in his head.

But who would he ask? The moment he brought up Maya’s topic in front of Lily, she will go berserk, accusing him of still having feelings for Maya.

If he tried to explain, she will storm out of the room and go straight to his mother.

His mother would then give him a good scolding.

Lily, on the other hand, was afraid of being discovered, thus she had already ordered people to dispose of the guards who she had sent to deal with Maya.

If Mark found out what happened, she was afraid to even think of the consequences.
