Chapter 1: Meeting him

As I look into those big brown eyes, I could still hear him say,

“You are no angel yourself Kay, you’ve done some horrible things.”

As I began to blink steadily, I look back at my precious little boy who looks way too much like his father.

His father is the perfect definition of a bad boy and me I used to be the typical good girl.

I had just given birth to a beautiful little boy in a town far away from friends and family. Before I hit my due date I packed up my stuff and ran and never looked back.

Every time I looked into those brown eyes I would think back on him, on Darren. Darren was beyond attractive, he had all the perfect features and he was exciting and mysterious.

The night I met him, even though I was set to never date again and pushed several advances away I couldn’t keep him out of my head.

Flashback:

As I got off work I looked up at the large moon above me, I always found a fascination with the dark even as a child. While most kids were hiding from what lurked in the shadows I was pulled towards it. I walked over to my car and got in driving to my next job, I was saving up money to go to law enforcement school. I had dreamed since I was a child of becoming a police officer, I picked up two jobs in order to pay for the program and time off work.

I was a 21 years old college graduate and spent most of my life working. As I got to the small dinner I walked in to the bathroom, I pulled my long blond hair into a ponytail and touched up the eyeliner under my hazel eyes. I slid on my tight black skirt and put on a white blouse onto my shoulders. I played a bit with my push up bra, I didn’t like to look fake but it made me tips and more tips meant closer to my goal.

I walked out of the bathroom and grabbed a coffee when my eyes met large brown eyes across the room. He was eyeing me with a large smile, I saw his eyes studying me, every inch of my body. I immediately walked over to him and introduced myself,

“Hi I’m Kay, do you need anything else?” I give him a friendly smile.

He looked me over and across to the girl that sat across from him. He’s strong shoulders stiffened as he ran his fingers through his brown hair he gave the girl a nod to leave. She looked him over and gave him a dirty look then rolled her eyes and walked out.

“Hey, I am Darren. What I really need is your number.” He gave me a cocky smile.

I began to feel the heat hit my cheeks, even though I’ve been asked several times at work for my number I usually just made an excuse and would walk away. This time I felt the butterflies in my stomach as I eyed this mysteriously handsome man in front of me.

I took my order pad out and scribbled down my number and handed it to him. I looked around at the completely dead dinner, the bars were just about to shout last call and it would fill up quickly with drunks that were attempting a final attempt to bring someone home. I’m not sure why but they always assumed their final shot would be with the sober waitress who would bring them a plate of grease at the end of their night. I knew I didn’t have much time in silence before the rush started.

He pulled out a large amount of bills from his pocket and put a $100 bill on the table.

“Keep the change beautiful, What time are you done at?”

I eyed the $100 bill, I looked over at the table and the two coffees that sat there , the bill couldn’t be more then $5. I gave him a shy smile,

“I’m done at 7 tomorrow morning and thank you.”

He nodded, “I’ll see you then.”

He went to walk towards the door he looked back at me and gave me a last look top to bottom, he gave me a smile,

“Now don’t go breaking my heart sweetheart by standing me up, I’ll be right here at 7.”

That was the last day of my innocence. Since then I have lost my savings, my closest friends, my family and everything I worked so hard for. My dreams went down the drain at that moment and I didn’t even know it.
