NIKOLAI RIDER
To everyone outside the dark world, it is merely a closedown bar, but to everyone who grows in the underworld, it is the haven for secret organizations and deal makers. The largest meeting house for Mafia lords and criminals. I press my thumb on the fingerprint reader and the door clicks open. I mutter a low curse as I glance at the time on the phone and flip the phone into my pocket. I push the door open and trudge in, cautiously walking along the red-colored corridor. Only people who are familiar with Los Pecadores Haven can find the right route among the confusing multiple corridors. I still remember the first time I was here, I kept running around in circles till I had no other choice but to call the ex-boss. Why in the world am I thinking about the past? This is unlike you, Nikolai Rider. I narrow my eyes and swing the small, almost invisible door open, marching down the creaking wooden stairs down into the main building of Los Pecadores Haven. "Welcome to the devil's underground," one of the bouncers standing by the door mutters and waves his hand towards the large hall. I ignore him like I always do and trudge in, putting on my mask. The red lights that shine in the large hall reflect the danger in it and also hide some dirty acts going on in here. I look around, scoffing in disgust as my eyes stumble on couples making out in a corner. Tom waves his hand from where he sat and I scoff before moving to meet him. "Hey, handsome!" A slut who seemingly looks drunk grabs my collar, forcing me to stop. I look down at her in disgust but the red mask covering her face makes me raise my brows. "Would you like a night? I will make you never want to get rid of me," she mutters in a sultry tone, her amber eyes glistening. I lean down to her height and grip her well-chiseled chin, our lips almost touching. I move my lips to her jeweled ear and bite her earlobe, earning an excited squirm from her. "No woman has ever made me keep her after a night. I wonder how you're going to prove to me that you're not one of those disposable whores," I whisper, and she giggles then wraps her hands around my neck, standing on her toes to speak into my ear. "That mystery is making this a sweet challenge and I'll never pass this challenge. Let's see who wins, handsome." I grin, enjoying her level of confidence. I grip her waist and pull her body against mine, squeezing her ass in the process. Lord, those plump cheeks are so soft! I glance over at Tom and smirk when I see his head, which is dropped to the side, shake in disbelief. "Will you come with me, doll?" I ask, and she tilts her head to the side and hums. She grabs a scotch from a tray and trails after me, staggering slightly. "Any news?" I ask as I grab a seat for myself. The lady didn't wait for anyone to advise her to grab a seat for herself. Sorry, I'm not the gentleman kind. "I managed to dispose of the body, but—" he stops and glances over my shoulder, his brown eyes staring keenly at the tipsy whore behind me. I crane my head backward and nod my head toward Tom. Everyone in the devil's underground already knows what to expect here. Money, sex, murders, and drugs are what to embrace. If you don't know these things, then you're not welcome here, and it's definite that you might not live this underground alive. "One of our boys was caught by the police some hours ago," Tom mutters, and I groan, throwing my head back. "Just call the sheriff," I mutter and Tom blinks repeatedly. I can tell from that blink that something else has gone wrong. "Well… the sheriff is getting transferred," he replies and I groan loudly, slamming my fist on the table. The lady behind me flinches, and the glass she is holding falls from her hand. I crane my head and stare at those terrified amber eyes. "What? doll, are you afraid?" I mutter in a mocking tone, eyeing her suspiciously. She chuckles lowly and shakes her head, her eyes glimmering. "Of course, I have to be afraid of this mystery man," she mutters and runs her hand along my exposed chest. Her eyes dart to my hands and I can tell from the movement of her eyes that she raised her brows in disgust. "Isn't that a wedding band, mystery man?" She asks, and I smirk. "What does it mean, huh?" She slurs. I can feel the disappointment hanging around her head. I lean closer, our masks rubbing against each other. "It means that I belong to no one," I mutter and from the opening in the mask, I watch her lips stretch into a relieved smile. I turn back and face Tom after seeing the satisfaction in her. "Was anything found on the boy?" I ask, and Tom sighs. That stupid sigh always triggers annoyance in me. "Some ammunition was found on him," Tom replies and I groan loudly. "Damn those bastards!" I spit out and gulp down a glass of vodka. "What to do, boss?" He asks and I frown deeply. "Do whatever you can to get the dumb dude out of there. Don't forget that if the asshole opens his mouth, then you'll become a fugitive," I snap, and his eyes widen in realization. "That's true," he whispers, running his hand through his sandy hair. "I gotta find a way to get that son of a bitch out of detention," he mutters and I narrow my eyes. "What else?" I ask, getting sick of the irrelevant issue. He looks over my shoulder again and sighs out before continuing. "Denison has some job for us," Tom says and I smirk, chuckling loudly. "What does he want now?" I ask and he sways a glass of liquor down his throat. "One of his men ran off with his chick," he murmurs and I scoff, full of disgust. "He wants to spend millions of dollars searching for a guy that ran off with his girl? That's kinda stupid," I reply, and he giggles. "That's not the real gist, boss. The son of a gun ran off with a whooping twenty million!" My brows raise and a smile creeps into my face. "Twenty?" I ask and Tom nods quickly. "Tell him that the pay is half of the money." A gasp escapes Tom's lips, and he drops his head, disagreement swerving in his eyes. "I don't he is going to agree—" "Then forget it?!" I snap and turn around, signaling an end to the headless conversation. "Alright then. I will get in touch with him and send your response," he mutters, and I nod my head in approval. "Would you like to meet some of the leaders? They are in the other room," he asks, swinging a glass of vodka in his hand. I narrow my eyes and scoff. "I am not interested," I reply and he raises his brows but says nothing. I gulp down another glass of the scotch and turn to face the little whore whose hands have been wrapped around my arm. I stagger up to my feet and grab the lady's hand then wrap my arm protectively around her waist. "Ugh… boss," Tom's voice forces me to stop and crane my neck in his direction. "What about Miss Peterson?" He asks, and anger floods through my veins, my eyes dimming in fury.NIKOLAII jerk up from my seat and scan the bustling hall, my hands shaking in rage. The worst that can happen to one here is losing someone. It's so difficult to find someone in the huge crowd in the hall.“Did you bring her here, boss?" Tom asks, dismay smeared in his voice."Fuck!” I growl, and the bitch sitting on mi amor’s seat flinches.I stop looking around and grab the girl's arm as she tries to walk away.“Let go of me!" She screams, trying to yank her hand out of my grip.I hold her tightly, glaring at her with eyes full of rage.“Tell me the truth, where is the woman who was sitting here earlier?" I ask.Her eyes widen, and she throws her head in all directions, fear flashing across her eyes.“I…I don't know what you're talking about. I've been sitting here for about five minutes,” she stutters.“Really? Then what happened to the woman sitting here?" I ask again, and her jaws drop."I…I don't know what you're talking about,” she stutters again, her eyes avoiding my gaze.“A
NIKOLAII nod at the man and grip her wrist tighter, dragging her reluctant feet across the vibrating ground of the dimly lit corridor.“If you had told me that this was where you were bringing me, I wouldn't have followed you,” she snaps, tearing into my flesh.I stop walking and let her hand go. She staggers back and almost trips on her heels while backing away from me.“Alright then, go back,” I mutter, nodding my head towards the elevator doors. She slowly tilts her head in the direction of the waiting elevator and grips the hem of her dress.I lean closer, and before she can move away from the wall, I trap her with my hands on the wall behind her. She stares at me with fear in her eyes. Her skin is as pale as that of a ghost, and her hands and feet can't stop shaking. I can tell that she is dying from the inside.I lean towards her ears and bite her earlobe, earning a low shriek from her.“Giovanni’s men are stalking around. Leave at your risk or stick to me,” I whisper into her
NIKOLAIMy lips stretch into a smirk as I watch her shiver under the blankets. My hand drops from her shoulder, and I lean forward to her ears, the smirk never leaving my face.“Hope you have a bad night, mi amor,” I whisper, and she stiffens. She slowly cranes her neck back, and her eyes widen.“You bastard!” she sneers and jumps up from the bed, breathing heavily.I take a step back, smirking as I stare at her.“Why? You were almost scared to death a few seconds ago,” I mutter. She frowns deeply, glaring at me in anger. “It’s been you all along?” she snaps. I scoff loudly, tilting my head to the side.“Were you expecting someone else, mi amor?” I ask.“I…I have been hearing footsteps outside my door,” she mutters. My eyes narrow in amusement, and I glance at the door.“Footsteps outside your door? Oh, the kidnapping must have traumatized you,” I mutter. She frowns again and shakes her head.“No, I know what I’m saying. I…i…”I grip her wrist, and she stops talking, her color draini
KAITLYNHe bats his lashes severally, his jaw dropping as he stares at the lampstand in my raised hand. My hand slowly drops, and I take a step back, my questioning gaze fixed on him.“What are you doing here?” I ask, still recovering from the fear that had seized me some moments ago.“The master asked me to check on you,” he replies. My head shoots up in confusion. He just came here to check on me?That is all you came for?” I ask, not believing him.He swivels his head in all directions, his eyes full of confusion and another feeling that I can't seem to make out.“Yes?” his eyes narrow over my body. I clutch the bathrobe tight, frowning at him.He turns around and walks away, leaving me drowning in anger and fear. I slam the door shut, cursing loudly. I drop the lampstand back in its place and make sure the door is locked, then trudge into the bathroom.I sink my body into the warm water, then throw my head back, letting the warmth of the water caress my skin. Everything is so comp
KAITLYN Nikolai stares from my worried face to Ana’s confused face. Ana catches the warning I silently directed at her. She slowly picks up the phone from the table and ends the call before Sam can say a word. Now that will only make his suspicions grow.“Why did you end the call?” Nikolai asks in a husky voice. His sweet, seductive voice is gone.“I thought you wanted to talk to her. That was why I ended it.” Ana pauses and looks at me, her brows raised.“Don't you two want to talk?” she asks, her head swerving from me to Nikolai.I know from Ana’s eyes that that wasn't why she ended the call.I gulp hard and face Nikolai, my eyes full of questions.“What do you want to speak to me about?” I ask. I make sure there is not even a little hint of fear in my tone.He tilts his head, staring at us with eyes full of suspicion and curiosity.“I hope so. Anyways, I'm leaving,” he says and continues his walk out of the house without a second glance at us.Ana and I released a breath we didn't
KAITLYNI push him off and tie up my bathrobe when Ana steps out of the room. A smirk appears on his face, and his brows knot in mischief.“There is no need to hide it, I have seen better ones,” he says, and something pricks my heart.“I hate you,” that is the only word that can form in my head at the moment, as the only thing I am feeling is anger. He licks his lips and shrugs, stepping closer while his eyes narrow over my body.“Saying that twice… are you sure you don't mean the opposite?” he asks. Disdain creeps in, and I scoff loudly, my lips turning up.“Love you?” I huff loudly, shaking my head, then turn around and trudge towards the door.“Hey, ami amor.” That name irritates me, but I can't help but stop whenever he calls me that.I crane my head backwards, my brows raising.“Your friend will not live if you breathe a word, understand?” he mutters, and my heart sinks.I turn around and continue my walk out of the lounge.Ana jerks up from her seat when I walk into the living r
