Mag-log inNIKOLAI RIDER
To everyone outside the dark world, it is merely a closedown bar, but to everyone who grows in the underworld, it is the haven for secret organizations and deal makers. The largest meeting house for Mafia lords and criminals. I press my thumb on the fingerprint reader and the door clicks open. I mutter a low curse as I glance at the time on the phone and flip the phone into my pocket. I push the door open and trudge in, cautiously walking along the red-colored corridor. Only people who are familiar with Los Pecadores Haven can find the right route among the confusing multiple corridors. I still remember the first time I was here, I kept running around in circles till I had no other choice but to call the ex-boss. Why in the world am I thinking about the past? This is unlike you, Nikolai Rider. I narrow my eyes and swing the small, almost invisible door open, marching down the creaking wooden stairs down into the main building of Los Pecadores Haven. "Welcome to the devil's underground," one of the bouncers standing by the door mutters and waves his hand towards the large hall. I ignore him like I always do and trudge in, putting on my mask. The red lights that shine in the large hall reflect the danger in it and also hide some dirty acts going on in here. I look around, scoffing in disgust as my eyes stumble on couples making out in a corner. Tom waves his hand from where he sat and I scoff before moving to meet him. "Hey, handsome!" A slut who seemingly looks drunk grabs my collar, forcing me to stop. I look down at her in disgust but the red mask covering her face makes me raise my brows. "Would you like a night? I will make you never want to get rid of me," she mutters in a sultry tone, her amber eyes glistening. I lean down to her height and grip her well-chiseled chin, our lips almost touching. I move my lips to her jeweled ear and bite her earlobe, earning an excited squirm from her. "No woman has ever made me keep her after a night. I wonder how you're going to prove to me that you're not one of those disposable whores," I whisper, and she giggles then wraps her hands around my neck, standing on her toes to speak into my ear. "That mystery is making this a sweet challenge and I'll never pass this challenge. Let's see who wins, handsome." I grin, enjoying her level of confidence. I grip her waist and pull her body against mine, squeezing her ass in the process. Lord, those plump cheeks are so soft! I glance over at Tom and smirk when I see his head, which is dropped to the side, shake in disbelief. "Will you come with me, doll?" I ask, and she tilts her head to the side and hums. She grabs a scotch from a tray and trails after me, staggering slightly. "Any news?" I ask as I grab a seat for myself. The lady didn't wait for anyone to advise her to grab a seat for herself. Sorry, I'm not the gentleman kind. "I managed to dispose of the body, but—" he stops and glances over my shoulder, his brown eyes staring keenly at the tipsy whore behind me. I crane my head backward and nod my head toward Tom. Everyone in the devil's underground already knows what to expect here. Money, sex, murders, and drugs are what to embrace. If you don't know these things, then you're not welcome here, and it's definite that you might not live this underground alive. "One of our boys was caught by the police some hours ago," Tom mutters, and I groan, throwing my head back. "Just call the sheriff," I mutter and Tom blinks repeatedly. I can tell from that blink that something else has gone wrong. "Well… the sheriff is getting transferred," he replies and I groan loudly, slamming my fist on the table. The lady behind me flinches, and the glass she is holding falls from her hand. I crane my head and stare at those terrified amber eyes. "What? doll, are you afraid?" I mutter in a mocking tone, eyeing her suspiciously. She chuckles lowly and shakes her head, her eyes glimmering. "Of course, I have to be afraid of this mystery man," she mutters and runs her hand along my exposed chest. Her eyes dart to my hands and I can tell from the movement of her eyes that she raised her brows in disgust. "Isn't that a wedding band, mystery man?" She asks, and I smirk. "What does it mean, huh?" She slurs. I can feel the disappointment hanging around her head. I lean closer, our masks rubbing against each other. "It means that I belong to no one," I mutter and from the opening in the mask, I watch her lips stretch into a relieved smile. I turn back and face Tom after seeing the satisfaction in her. "Was anything found on the boy?" I ask, and Tom sighs. That stupid sigh always triggers annoyance in me. "Some ammunition was found on him," Tom replies and I groan loudly. "Damn those bastards!" I spit out and gulp down a glass of vodka. "What to do, boss?" He asks and I frown deeply. "Do whatever you can to get the dumb dude out of there. Don't forget that if the asshole opens his mouth, then you'll become a fugitive," I snap, and his eyes widen in realization. "That's true," he whispers, running his hand through his sandy hair. "I gotta find a way to get that son of a bitch out of detention," he mutters and I narrow my eyes. "What else?" I ask, getting sick of the irrelevant issue. He looks over my shoulder again and sighs out before continuing. "Denison has some job for us," Tom says and I smirk, chuckling loudly. "What does he want now?" I ask and he sways a glass of liquor down his throat. "One of his men ran off with his chick," he murmurs and I scoff, full of disgust. "He wants to spend millions of dollars searching for a guy that ran off with his girl? That's kinda stupid," I reply, and he giggles. "That's not the real gist, boss. The son of a gun ran off with a whooping twenty million!" My brows raise and a smile creeps into my face. "Twenty?" I ask and Tom nods quickly. "Tell him that the pay is half of the money." A gasp escapes Tom's lips, and he drops his head, disagreement swerving in his eyes. "I don't he is going to agree—" "Then forget it?!" I snap and turn around, signaling an end to the headless conversation. "Alright then. I will get in touch with him and send your response," he mutters, and I nod my head in approval. "Would you like to meet some of the leaders? They are in the other room," he asks, swinging a glass of vodka in his hand. I narrow my eyes and scoff. "I am not interested," I reply and he raises his brows but says nothing. I gulp down another glass of the scotch and turn to face the little whore whose hands have been wrapped around my arm. I stagger up to my feet and grab the lady's hand then wrap my arm protectively around her waist. "Ugh… boss," Tom's voice forces me to stop and crane my neck in his direction. "What about Miss Peterson?" He asks, and anger floods through my veins, my eyes dimming in fury.KAITLYNA cold splash on my face forces my head to jerk up.I let out a hoarse gasp, gripping my dress as my heart clenches.A shrill, low ring fills my head, and my throat is burning so bad that I can barely swallow my saliva down.“Wake up!” I hear a voice growl, and my eyes slowly pull open.My heart drops into the bottom of my belly when I see a tightened face of a woman hovering over me and eyes that can pierce anything with their blackness staring down at me.I draw back, my heart racing in fear and alarm.“Who… who are you?” I whisper in a voice that sounds like it isn't even above a whisper. Her lips twitch up as disgust darts across her dim eyes. She scoffs at me with disgust and turns away, staring at me like I had some contagious disease. My gaze lowers to my body, and my throat knots when I notice that I am not in the dress that I wore earlier.I am in nightwear. A black nightwear that stops at my thighs. My feet are covered with thick black socks, and a bracelet that does
NIKOLAI “Hello Giovanni,” I blurt out, my voice echoing across the woods.Giovanni stops dead, then slowly raises his head in my direction. My lips twitch in a smirk when I see a horrified look dart across his face. His eyes are wide in dread as he stares at me.I know damn well he doesn't believe who he is seeing. He must have been planning to throw a celebration over my death.“You bastard!” he spits out.I chuckle and begin to walk towards him with slow strides.“I told you I'll come for you, didn't I?” I mutter, my lips slanting to the side.Dismay flashes past his eyes, and he staggers back. His hair is damp and sticking to his forehead, and his white, transparent shirt glues to his body. His chest is rising and falling in fear, and the grave look on his face is almost making me laugh.“You will dare not disrespect the Patrón!” he grumbles, shaking his finger at me.His shaking voice is almost making me burst into laughter.“Patrón? Don Marco?” I huff loudly, shaking my head.I
NIKOLAI Just as I have predicted, gut-wrenching screams of despair have filled the large hallway. Blood is splattered all over the white walls, and even pools have formed on the ground. Ironically, Giovanni sent men to my base to eliminate me and everyone under me, but here I am, still standing with a loaded gun, a blade dripping in blood, and my men. “Ah!” My head jerks up as a scream pierces the hallway and a boy rushes towards me, swinging an axe in the air. I stand still. A smile is on my face as I watch his feet hit the puddle of blood around. He is closer to me now, the axe hanging in the air and his lips stretching out in rage. “I'm gonna kill you!” He growls and swings his hand to bring the axe down to my neck. I jerk my hand up at that moment and sink the blade into his throat, then draw it out effortlessly. His body stops moving, his eyes widen in dismay, and his skin slowly begins to turn pale as blood gushes out of the hole in his neck. I grab the axe still hang
KAITLYN “Forgive me for lying on you, Ana,” I mutter under my breath. The driver is silent and heading in the direction that leads to Ana's house as he was instructed.I bite my lips and lean close, gripping his headrest.“Uhm… can you change directions? I want to go see someone else,” I mutter. The car jerks to a violent stop and my hand snaps away from the headrest as the force of the unexpected stop throws me back to my seat.I curse loudly and grip my banging head.“Are you okay, ma'am?” The driver swings his head back as he asks.I narrow my eyes at him and sit up, rubbing my neck.“I’m fine!” I snap. The driver sighs and turns to face the road again.“I'm sorry ma'am, but I was instructed to take you to Miss Lopez's residence,” he replies coldly.I gulp hard as I glare at the back of his head.He is going to be another obstacle that I'll have to go through to get to Sam.I am not going to back down until I have gotten what I want.I can't let anyone know where I am, not even An
KAITLYN My heart drops as I watch Nikolai's car drive off from the balcony. I still don't understand what he meant when he said those words and he didn't care to explain either. With the look on his face as he left, I doubt if he'll ever explain what I just heard over the phone a few minutes ago. My heart tightens when the words fill my head again. Don Peterson. Shivers wash down my spine and horror sprouts from the pit of my belly. “No, it can't be true, it can't be,” I whisper, shaking my head. But the more I try to shake off the feeling, the harder it becomes. I need to prove the thoughts in my mind wrong if I actually want to be able to be at peace. I bite my lips, thinking of a way to get the answers I need. A thought suddenly flashes into my mind and my head jerks up. I let out a gasp and turn around to leave the balcony. There is only one person who can assist me in finding out the truth– Sam. I take out my phone from the drawer and dial Sam's number
KAITLYN Anger flickers across Nikolai’s eyes as he shifts his gaze from my neck to my face. “Who?” he growls again and my belly tightens in fear. “Uhm…” I stutter. I can't tell him that it was his brother, Jesse, who did this to my neck. If I make a mistake in doing that, it will lead to massive bloodshed, and Jesse will be a victim of this bloodshed. I can't cause the death of someone else I care about again. “Mi amor?” My gaze rises when he calls me again. His voice is calm but I can hear the rage that lies beneath his voice, What should I tell him? What? I pull my hands down from around his neck and stiffen against the wall, blinking the tears that had gathered in my eyes. “You,” I whisper. His eyes go dark, and his hands on the walls pull away. He staggers back, his head tilting to the side with confusion and shock darting across his eyes. “What?” he scoffs loudly in disbelief. “It was last night when you fucked me. You had your hand around my neck,” I s
KAITLYNI touch my lips for the fifth time and feel my belly knot again. We are inside the car, heading back to his house. After what happened in there, I doubt if I will be able to face Jessie ever again. The nonstop scenes of Nikolai kissing me in front of Jesse are so cringeworthy that I can't
KAITLYN“Nikolai,” I whisper. His darkened eyes flicker towards me, and his head tilts to the side. “How dare you cheat on me, Kaitlyn?” he whispers in a voice full of mockery.I stagger back and turn to look at Jesse.“With this fool," he mutters, and my head jerks up.I feel anger flood through
KAITLYN“Ah!” I groan loudly and throw my head to the side, wincing as pain snaps across my head.I remember rushing into a cab when it started to drizzle. I had pressurized the driver to ride faster, not minding the rain, but close to the location, a car crashed into the cab from behind. I don't
KAITLYNMy words hit her so hard that her glass drops and spills the champagne on my dress.I gasp loudly and step back, the smile on my face disappearing.I wipe a hand over my dress and jerk my head up towards her while she stares at me with horror and fear scribbling across her face.Is this the
